So this will merely be the longest solo in 30 years then. Probably also yet another record for fastest edition.
Depends on the definition of solo. I think Ballerini in 1998 also had a longer solo, but he had to overtake some guys from the early breakaway.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

I dunno, we still have 50+km to go,. Saying it's over is premature I think.

To any cope enjoyer: MvdP has the tendency to crack when going on long solos... (no i dont believe its not over, but maybe you will)
He learned his lesson in Harrogate. Glasgow displayed a different version of him.

Edit:
And have to withdraw my disbelief regarding his possible stamina this day. The riders of today are much better at recovering between RvV and P-R, most possible due to assistance by their coaches and nutritionists.

I mean, you can clearly see that the group rides extremely braindead when Fred Wright comes back, who was dead already and the Bissegger group is slowly closing in as well. No one can tell me, they couldn't ride better. Chances are MvdP wins still but I really can't appreciate so much resignation and passiveness.

Vingegaard out would be the definitive dagger to the heart.
I think it will make for 3 good weeks of racing in france. Nevertheless the crash was horrific and no one hopes it happens to the stars. In my eyes the Tour could be a close one which is more fun ti watch.
