Sagan looks a little porky in his latest posts on social media. His best days are behind him...doesn't appear to have the motivation to live the disciplined life to be the best version of himself on the bicycle. I understand though as I'm in the same boat with motivation, but I'm 53 years old.
Elite athlete bodies ages fast though. He's probably just a couple of years younger than you physically I'd guess?

That's a bit of a stretch, I'd say. Compare with the other riders and consider they're riding with extra layers due to the cold weather.

Wout has never gone for GT Point classification. He can sprint faster than Sagan, he can climb faster than Sagan, and he can TT faster than Sagan, and he can go faster on a CX course than Sagan. Sagan is yesterday's news, past his prime, and just really enjoying his fame and fortune.

That's the point. We don't know whether Wout will be able to keep his form for three weeks and/or how good he is in the control who will be in the break game.

OTOH after his crash at 2018 TdF (i.e., past his prime) Sagan won two GT PQ's and he finished in the second place three times.

Are we really gonna pretend Van Aerts recovery is such a question mark that we don't know if he can contend for green?

That's literally more grasping for straws than both the pro and anti Evenepoel bases have done in the past 24 months.

Recovery in itself clearly is not a question and of course he can contend for green.

However requirements for a domestique+stage hunter are quite different from those for a serious PQ contender and he will have to race in a very different manner. As he did not ride in such a manner before, I am not so sure that he will automatically succeed.

I really think people overestimate the difficulty of participating in the intermediate sprints.

Cycling latest sub category on PornHub?

Alternative article. It's worth a read, pretty hilarious.

Peter Sagan – lesser-known younger brother of Juraj – has been in the professional peloton for long enough to have seen some things. He’s won some races. He’s had some nasty crashes. He’s sold luxury showerheads, shown his sweet potato to Daniel Oss, and he’s made music videos for Jerusalem artichoke juice.

But now, at the age of 32, he has had enough. Specifically, enough of being pissed on.

I remember Sagan writing in his book that he would always be able to finish top5 in a bunch sprint because he's just better than the others at surfing wheels and positioning himself.
Finishing 4th yesterday doesn't necessarily mean his shape is good enough to get over the Poggio with the other top classic riders. Or even win a reduced group sprint if he manages to.
