... and what about Henao?

Going a bit off topic but he is not British so doubt he will get much in the way of success.. I guess it is just the way the die roles..:p

People are always going to not believe Sky Anglo riders especially dodgy ones have it over European champions but they got their first dose of reality in the Tour and they may get their second dose in the Vuelta................

I understand it would be foolish to underestimate Wiggins and Froome and assume that Wiggins cant continue to make phenomenal improvements. God help us when he discovers that one can train for 6 hours a day rather than just the 5.

Nevertheless. Since Contador arrived on the scene big time in 2007 he has won 1 less gt than the the entire TDF peloton, that Wiggins and Froome just beat, put together. (in that same time)

Even not counting 2010 he has more TDF victories in him than the entire field put together.

I know you have only seen Contador in last years tour when he was a bit weak post giro, so you dont have the same impression of him as others do, but you will soon realize that with all due respect to Nibali JVDB and even Evans, the current generation of cycling does have a champion who rises above them all.

Fortunately for you, Froome might not race the Vuelta and Wiggins certainly won't so you can keep claiming they can dance with The Great One, all the way up to next July.

For the rest of us, patience is a virtue. The countdown timers are already set. Everything else is a sideshow. The king returns this August.

But its next July that he reclaims his throne.

Actually I watched Contador in 2009 and 2010 and in the Giro so I know how good he can truly be..

Also I was not trying to claim Froome has a greater chance than Contador but that people seem to be underestimating his chances which I addressed in my post and of course people also may seem to be overestimating Contador's chances due to the scenario he is in.

Actually, if you want to look to next July, that's when we're likely to see a both racing fit, and very bitter and determined Contador. Unless the course is flat with long TT's, he very well should win the 2013 Tour by many minutes.

Curious if Andy tries to win the 2013 Giro over the Tour, just to get a true GT win?

I would disagree if Andy races as it is very likely to be a Tour centered around the mountains and imo Andy is close to on par with Contador when it comes to the long mountain passes, so not minutes and of course we are yet to see how Froome will handle proper competition such as Contador on the climbs. He may not perform but then again he may raise his bar another level as of course Sky seem to be improving their riders in leaps and bounds.

Underestimating his chances? What by saying that a 25 year old guy with 1 gt podium to his name is unlikely to be the first person since Pantani to win back to back gts

Ok so he hasnt "won" the tour, cos of a crash and team orders. Principle is the same.

Any other time and that would have been an interesting question. But after the contribution he has made to Wiggo's efforts to be the first Brit to win the Tour. I think Froome will be spent by the time the Vuelta kicks off, less than a month after the Tour ends. I really like Froome, and felt terrible for him, that he hung so loyal at last years Vuelta 'til he was finally released by Wiggo to chase Cobo. Moments too late. Though I thought Wiggo had an amazing run of results leading into this years goal of the TdF title, I told my wife at the Tours beginning that Froome was the man to watch. That he is on the same team as Wiggo is what has halted what could have been a riveting rivalry, on the road. Nibali and Froome have been the biggest animators on the GC side of the slate, and Froome has done it all for Bradley. But I think he will have left it all on the roads of France.

Why does anyone think Froome will ride the Vuelta? When was the last time someone put in a huge effort at the Tour and proceeded to have success at the Vuelta?

Froom is just "having a bit of fun" at the tour.. squeeze in some play time at the olympics and he will be fresh as a daisy for the Vuelta.. really doe.

I'm pretty sure you'll get a reality check at this years' Vuelta or if Froome skips it, at next years' Tour.
I don't blame you though. The Brits have sucked at road cycling for so long and in most sports as well, so it's plausible that you are getting excited, at some signs of success, but as is the case most of the time you're overrating your guys.

A bit harsh to refer to winning the two biggest prizes in cycling as 'some signs of success'.

froome is good. probobly better than Wiggins.

But

At the same time, we all saw the Giro last year. He (Bertie) boy-toyed Nibali and the rest. Wiggins and Froome barely beat Nibali at the TdF.

I dont personally like Contador, but i must admit hes gonna crush the vuelta.
