No points for the podium this time :). Points are only for correct winners.

I'm a little confused, admittedly doesn't take a lot. I thought in Vuelta it was 1 point each if you placed any of your 3 on the podium. I got 2 out of 3 on podium in different placings, post on 24th August, but just realised my score didn't change after that? I checked back this morning to see where I was in relation to you as prior to Vuelta we were both on 6.5. Did they have to be in right placings to score anything for that race?
RR
1) Simon Yates
2)Alaphillippe
3)Dan Martin
Tossed up between two Yates, think if it had been anything less than Worlds, Simon would ride for Adam and possibly that's why Adam wasn't asked to do so much in Vuelta. Stuck with Simon in end.
Had a few alternatives for 3rd but thought having the twins now might spur Dan on.

I see a few trends here, and to put this in a familiar format while sharing my thoughts, here it is:

****
The Don: he can climb, descend, sprint.
Balaphilippe: see The Don.
Il Squalo: he can climb, descend, decent sprint, superb tactician, did a great job staying under the radar.

***
Simon Says Try To Catch Me: he can climb, descend, average sprint compared to the ****.
Kwiat: he's strong, had a very good ITT, he has the goodies, less climbing, better sprint than most if not all of them.
Uran: the all-rounder, has a good chance to finish second, no one will remember him or see him in the highlights.
A Dutch: one of them will be there in the final. Dangerous.
Tibopino: nominated here multiple times, climber, good descender these days, better than average sprinter.
Mos-Con: excellent all-around. What will happen when a rider passes him in the final straightaway? Run him out?

**
About 15 riders including:
Mas Contador Por Favor: Enric has class, in a sprint has no chance to win.
Romain B (a.k.a. Alexandre B :p ): if I thought that a solo win was an option, I would take him, but in a small, even 3-4 rider sprint that I foresee, he won't win. Podium maybe. If you can do it at La Strade, you can do it.
Vino?

This course and line-up has all the makings of a fantastic showdown. What a RRWC should be. If this race is what it could be, the winner will be put in a higher category than the flat RRWC winners IMO: instant legend status to mention the thread about legends. I don't think that it will be a dud, rather a bunch of champions going at it, attacks, drama, epic. Less than five down the stretch, after many more trying their luck.

I'm probably expecting too much.

Gigs, don't miss it please :) .

My top 10:

1. Alaphilippe: currently the best in the hilly classics.
2. Kwiatkowski: already won a world title, tactically smart, climbs well enough.
3. S. Yates: best climber, has won stages on comparables courses.
4. Kruijswijk: finishes fourth or fifth in every race.
5. M. A. Lopez
6. Mas
7. V. Nibali
8. Wellens
9. Bardet
10. Majka

After the top 3 it's really very open. France has the strongest team on paper, but will they ride like a team? It's impossible to predict what the shape will be of riders who haven't raced much since the Tour. Bardet, Dan Martin... Are they hiding or simply not that well prepared?

Screw it, I'm gonna change my prediction. Probably not very smart from a game theoretic point of view, but what the hell.

1. A. Yates
2. Valverde
3. Alaphilippe

If you did not change your original prediction from 24/9 you would be a winner now. Now you still have to wait till the last race.

:)

God damnit! And I was even drunk when I changed my predictions

This time the forum was not as bad as usual as Velverde was the main favorite from the beginning of the year.

New table after the WCITT and WCRR

The most of you gave me this time three podium names, however, we are back to one-day race scoring which means: prediction from February 2 points if your name was the winner and 0,5 if he was on the podium
pre-race prediction 1 point if your name was the winner and 0,5 points if he was on the podium.

Unfortunately only now I have found out that the January predictions from NICK ESQ1993 I considered as Escarabajos ones. I never stated this nick ESQ1993 in my table. I would like to apologize to this nick for this. Suddenly he is in the second place. I am not sure if Valverde going to ride GDL but he still if yes and he wins, theoretically NICK ESQ can be the winner, with only visiting this thread only one time. (unless HUGO plays it smart :) )

Actually, you cannot lose this as you can play it safe now. :). You deserve this win as you had by far the biggest amount of coreŕect types.

Lombardia is hard to predict this year because there isn't San Fermo and Nibali is out of shape so we don't know if someone wil push hard on Sormano, I don't think that Civiglio alone will be enough for the climbers. But we also didn't know if the likes of Matthews, Van Avermaet, Valgren will ride, maybe even Gilbert could be in play considering that seems to have recovered very well and he's fresher after the forced stop.

When will be the deadline to post?
With RCS the risk of not having the full startlist until the evening before the race is very high.

Anytime before the race.

Il Lombardia

Pinot
Oomen
Nibali
Please be right :) .

Il Squalo is either an actor playing dead and waiting to deliver a killing blow or just not at 100%. As such, he can't be taken lightly. Oomen has the tools, not a target on his back, I could see something, yeah. Tibopino.

Valverde is the threat of all threats IMO.
