Why did Lotto waste their money on Greipel when they could have bought some good domestiques for Phil and VDB instead?
What a waste of cash.
What a waste of cash.

I think most of us knew that those wins were mainly due to the HTC factor. That team wins, no matter who they bring to the race.roundabout said:I don't think many people would deny that signing Greipel at least seemed like a good idea at the time.

Highly doubtful that we'll see him at the Giro this year. He would abandon it on the first climb...LOL

Phil achieved in this season alone Greipel's entire career ten fold. Nah, 100 fold.
Should have bought someone like Kreuziger or Breschel.

really fair to compare a sprinters' palmares with palmares of one of the best classics riders ever.
Especially fair, when Greipel actually never had the chance to ride the Tour.
btw, is winning green in Vuelta 09 also crap ?
Seems like you also forgot, that in M-SR, Andre rode his *** off for Flip.
Also important to mention that Andre rode and did quiet good at Roubaix, the real man's race, where Philippe shines by absence.
Of course Greipel had better starts into season, but Andre's season highlights are still to come and he changed his peaking and training a little bit, while it is also not easy to change team, especially considering that he rode at an absolute NR.1 sprinterteam - sprinters paradise when it comes to perfect support and leadout.
All that needs some time and is a factor, while it is far too early to judge Greipel's season and value for Omega.
Yes, Breschel is turning out to be quite the reinforcement for RaboEl Pistolero said:19 crap victories.

This is the most stupid comment of the day. Did you even stop to think about what the post you quoted was saying? It wasn't about Gilbert. It was about Lotto not being able to win without Gilbert, hence why they signed Greipel to fill a niche. Fanboy.El Pistolero said:19 crap victories.

The small races do matter. Sure not as much as FW but they still matter.El Pistolero said:Who cares about Greipel's victories?
Fanboy.
19 stage victories in races like Tour of Turkey don't even equal a victory in La Fleche Wallonne. Greipel can have an as good season as last year, it's not going to make OPL better as a team.
A sprinter like Greipel needs support, OPL ain't going to give it to him. Gilbert doesn't work for other people, he's not going to be part of a lead out train.
Do you think Gilbert was happy with the purchase of Greipel and some of Greipel's team mates? He openly said he wanted OPL to support him with better team mates.
Call it stupid all you want, but you're not going to make it in the news with stage victories in 2.1 or 2.2 races.

Of course, I'm a homer for Cav, but then fortunately my guy is good.
