I know he only has 1 weapon, 1 talent... But that's because he is weak. Always complaining, never pulling and rarely delivering.
Hater. That's absolutely ******.
In the team the plan was to work for Purito in the final. Bala was not in good shape, so Purito shouldn't work on the flat.
At the end, he bridgep a gap of 40 seconds on the climb. That's a huge performance. It's completely logical after that kind of effort, you don't have something left in the final. And especially not on the flat, which for a rider of his build and characteristics is not a good terrain at all.
And he was not complaining at all during the race. And he delivers always. Always up there. How many riders can win a big race? Exactly, only 1.
I feel the same. I liked a guy a lot. He seemed like a nice person in and off bike. His name will be for me always connected with these 3 words Fuente De, Florence, Valverde.skidmark said:Adios Purito. I found myself cheering for you like mad in all your races, despite your (understandably) conservative GC racing style. A clearly warm and emotive personality overcame all that; a rider so good for so long deserved to win a bit more and a bit bigger. My excitement for Contador's Fuente De attack was tempered by my disappointment that your best chance at a GT slipped away; but really, the Florence Worlds encapsulated the greatness and disappoinments of your career, and the ups and downs of sport in general. You were proud of your high results without seeming complacently satisfied with them. Great attitude, great competitor.
Are you proposing legends invitational races? Do them for classics, every man for himself :lol:lenric said:If someday there will be a TDF/whatever for seniors, I'll enjoy seeing him there.

I dont think so, it was a race for classic riders for 160 Km, wind, short climbs, cobbles, Purito would have got very tired before the first chinesa.
Anyway Purito has been good in Amtel, so who knows.

You are right but all those 3 races would have been bigger wins than his biggest win. Just a pity he didn't at least win one of them.lartiste said:Gigs_98 said:Purito's career in 3 pictures:

This is a bit unfair towards Purito, he has still results to remember, e.g.: La Fleche Wallonne. It was always pleasure to me to watch his performances. The question is whether with stronger team or better DS he can achieve better results, but still he distinguished himself and retires as one of best riders of past years.
