Legendary ride by Purito. Those are the kind of performances he should focus on and forget any GC ambitions at all-just gives the fans some good Old school ride like today's. Grande Purito!!!!!! :D

Nice win for Purito. If he can keep in the breaks he can get into the top ten.
If he try's to follow the GC boys he will lose more time. He needs to manage his efforts and pick the right stages for victory's and time gains.

Great win today.

I must admit that I was cheering for Bardet and Kwiatkowski, but very well done Purito, completely deserved and well ridden. Imo the totally correct thing for him to try for and do after his bad days.

Now I want his next stage win to be a longer solo effort :p

Such an emotional win! I am so happy for him. I knew he was the strongest from the break. He has the form, he showed it on Huy. Maybe it's better this way, 2wins>5th place overall. His Tour is a great success already.

Another stage win or the polka dots and the only thing better for him this Tour would be winning it. Great ride today and he gets the polka-dots for a few days too despite not leading the competition.

I do hope he tries to stick with the favorites on one mountain stage to show that he truly is still a top climber.

Yeah I see him going for the polka dots now. He could very well get a third stage win tomorrow.

When you are a stage hunter, usually you need few days of "easy" rides in between. ... so no stage win tomorrow.

BTW it is same case like Majka, "cruising" around just to hit it hard from time to time. Thats the difference between GC and stage hunters.

Tomorrow = Mende (Stage 14)

I see no reason why Purito can't win on Mende again. Katusha will chase all day. It suits him. Valverde is his only danger.

Yep...I've had Purito as the favorite for stage 14 since the Tour began....definitely hoping he wins there.

Perhaps he will lose time on today's stage, so he can get in the break in the stage to Mende. I think the chance is big a breakaway will stay away on Mende.

Would people work with him in the break knowing the finish suits him better than them?

J.Rod might win tomorrow from the GC guys group,no need to go in the break.Sky will mark closely Alejandro so should be an easy task.As unpredictable as he is Froome can't be faster than J.Rod.

Yesterday they worked with him in the break knowing he's the better climber ;)

But i'll get your point. But i think for a lot of riders a 2nd place in a Tour stage is better then just staying in the peloton.

Not to mention that a lot of riders are more likely to get a stage win against Purito in a break than if they sulk in the bunch.

Tactic-wise you mean?

Sure if someone like Majka is in the break with Purito on a Alpine stage, he has a big chance to win.

What I mean is that in a break a lot can happen and for a very large part of the field it is the only way they can win a stage. If the break doesn't make it to the end and the bunch hits the final climb, then 95+% of the field is already beaten. Even though they are unlikely to beat Purito in a breakaway, they are still more likely to do that than to win from the bunch. No way some of the invite teams would sabotage a break they are in just because there is a good rider with them.

Yes, exactly. Good point.
