It's going to be damn hard to win either Fleche or especially Liege for him. Last year he was in much better shape but still he couldn't do it. Although much depends on Valverde's form. I have a feeling when Bala is not so good, then Purito flies.. ;)

I actually think his shape will be better in the classics this year, then it will be last year. He looked a little bit tired in especially Fleche last year.

He's still fresh mentally, and i think he will be in his best shape in Liege, instead of guys like Henao who are already in good shape for a longer period.

The chance he wins Fleche is not so big imo. But i expect a lot from him in Liege. I think he will ride offensively.

And don't underestime him in the ITT. I mean, Contador and Henao are my bets, but last year he showed he's world class in such a hard, techincal TT.

I hope for a podium. That will be a big result.
World class? Loooool

You don't understand my point. I'm talking about a hard, shorter TT with a climb, technical descent and less flat km's.

Just look at Chorges 2013 in Le Tour.
Such a world class time trialist

I hope he will be fine for FW and Liege.

Stupid race. If he decides to continue next year, no AGR please!!!

Not finishing on Cauberg also drastically has hurt his chances, I have no clue to why he races AGR really

Team orders, opportunity to help his teammates, getting some final race km's in the legs.

Lots of reasons. But i agree, it would be better not to start.

GREAT NEWS :)

Purito está bien después de su caída en la Amstel Gold Race, donde sólo ha sufrido rasguños. Estará perfecto para Flecha y Lieja.

Do you think he would be ordered to race if he didn't want to?

Maybe he felt good (team was working for him today), and he likes to spread his chances.

His time has gone. But i have enjoyed every single second of it! Great rider, with a great palmares. But mostly one of the best characters of the peloton.

I really hope he can win a stage in the Tour or Vuelta to end his career on a good note. The time has arrived.

Not ready yet to fight for a win.Low chances to do better in LBL,but who knows maybe will surprise everybody.Anyway he'll get an entire TDF at his disposal to show he can still win something.

I'd rather get a 3rd place in Giro, than to win 1/2 stages in le Tour.

he always talks about how much he dreams of winning Liege but someone should explain to him that he doesn't stand a chance waiting for Ans.

It's simple. He's not 100% atm. The chance he rides away is zero. Look at Betancur, Grivko, Voeckler... Too much control of Movistar and Etixx. It's impossible to go solo.

And on the cobble climb, he was just on his limit and at least 8 riders are better. So eventually they decided to let Zaka attack in the finale in trying to win. And he tried to neutralize any moves from Valverde.

If he was in top shape, maybe their was more possible. But the fact he doesn't attack, is not his fault. It's the Ardennes disease. There is someting completely wrong with the races itself. Because all the other riders who had to attack (Nibali, Bardet, Kreuziger) didn't attack either.

Why was Movistar allowed to use Sutherland for what seemed like 300 km, though?

Race hard, and other teams won't be nearly at full strength by the time you need to go.

It's also a matter of confidence in yourself.

Arredondo summed it up best - Rodriguez is still not in top form and the cobbled climb is a disaster for a rider of his type.

This. Look at the riders who went clear, they just have a little bit more body then a pure puncheur like Purito.

But still he showed he can do well in the upcoming races. I hope he can win a stage in the Tour or Vuelta, and maybe San Sebastian. That's still within reach imo.

but it's not the first year he waits for Ans without doing anything. It doesn't make any sense. Not even an attack on Saint-Nicolas which is tailor made for him.

The Tour suit him better than the Giro this year (and also in 2015), i think that he choose to ride the Tour for this reason. But he should not focus the GC at the Tour, stage hunting and the pois jersey in France and then the Vuelta for the GC.

The Naniot made it a power climber's course. All the explosive/punchier climbers were struggling. Maybe Sagan would have won on this finish.

Well there were plenty of climbs to drop a powerclimber like Albasini...

The other 3 are hardly powerclimbers... certainly not Poels and Sanchez imo.
