I am guessing Ellingworth is a clown as well for not offering a 'legendary rider who got over an illness which has killed some careers' more than a 1-year contract?

Or maybe he is a clown for offering this legendary rider a contract even when that legendary rider had mono?

Or maybe the likeliest explanation is that even people close to Cavendish knew that he was done and could not offer him more.

You lot are such clowns. A legendary rider gets over an illness which has killed some careers and gets back to winning and it has to be doping.

Coming up: Fabio Jakobsen and Remco Evenepoel haven't done anything for a year. How are they form on back?

Clowns incapable of processing a thought without doping.

So just being in the environment of Quickstep again made him so happy and confident that he's able to win races again a few months after he left Bahrain? For personal reasons I wish everybody who's dealing with mono the best. It can ** your life up.
But this is a very sudden turnaround, just when he joined an infamous team (and also here, I have become to like QS in a way because they do so many things right). And these weren't tactical wins. The lead-out was a catastrophe each time. He has a punch and strength again. Riders mysteriously start to lose their power when they leave QS, they mysteriously gain it when they join. This is a quite extreme example.
To think of doping in a sport with such a history, well, in sports in general, when a sudden, very surprising comeback at 35 with these circumstances, occurs, is not making somebody a clown. Less is it so when it happens after working with experienced doping doctors.

Show me the physiological reasons behind it and I'm more than willing to believe in other explanations, because I'd love it to be different.

(Jakobsen's and Evenepoel's cases are very different, I don't know what they are doing in your argumentation.)

Overly cynical to look askance at Almeida absolutely crumpling here after the reportedly difficult negotiations and recent confirmation he'll leave the team? >_>
eh, what are the implications?

they cut him off the juice because he is leaving? he did a good TT so its not like he is without form and somebody from DQS worked for him (knox?)

he is in good form but what? saves himself? if anything this is the time to show real strength he could leverage for a contract somewhere else

looks to me like he just had a bad day, now if he doesnt work for evenepoel at all, that will be certainly telling a story but everyone knows he was leaving before giro, so why even take him on the team if they knew he would be off juice/unwilling to cooperate

Team with doping associated doctor magically turns washed up rider into world beater for billionth time?

Obviously we're the clowns here.

Super bump.

Nothing to see here guys, i.e. Yvan Van Mol & DQS are totally normal.

I mean isn't it a lovely story? Just enjoy the emotion & crying. Also, just enjoy the fact 35 year old sprinter Cavendish now rides for the same team as Alaphilippe, aka darling of the ASO & French media. Sam Bennett meanwhile is a bad person because Patrick Lefevere says so.

Honestly at this point I'm just numb to the whole PED angle, but I do find the people who swallow the official narrative & act like there's nothing going on a bit "too much".

Last results by the cry baby in bunch sprints at the Tour:
2017
4th
Then provoked a crash (one of many he has caused, ofc) and they DQ'd Sagan for it...

2018
36th
35th
21th
10th
8th

After that he was so bad he wasn't even called for it or any other GT. Now he beats a decent field like it is 2016 all over again. Sounds legit.

He's actually 36, which renders it slightly more incredulous.

Totally legit.

The saddest part is people tend to only react to climbing performances which they view as suspicious (Padun, Pogacar, Roglic etc.), but sprinters have gotten a free pass in public perception since forever. And classics/puncheur specialists are viewed as naively as well.

I mean I don't even care, i.e. for the sake of parity & cycling not getting jettisoned into jail forever I'd rather the climbers also got a free pass. But IMO if people are going to label Pogacar's Planche des Belle Filles as thermonuclear pas normal (for example), I'd like some equality here because Cavendish aka a sprinter at his age cannot in all seriousness do what he just did in the Tour.

Sorry, my mistake. I guess my brain was trying to normalize his age downwards to something more believable.

Why would sprinters be given a free pass? Everyone knows about Mario's doping offenses. I suppose it may be the lack of any recent sandals/positives?

Van Mol - Ibarguren 2021: Make Cav great again!
Lefevre has really been able to get with tons of stuff because he's not running a gt team. Imagine any serious gc team having those 2 doctors, they would face some backlash. DQ get pretty much zero.
I also love the fact how Matxin and his SD connections only became problematic once again after he left the team, while the former SD team doctor stayed with them.

No, not everyone "knows" about Cipollini doping. Most people (random folks who might just watch the Tour & nothing else) know Armstrong doped, know Pantani doped, know Ullrich doped, know their climbing times are "suspect". But sprinters from their era (Zabel etc.) or classics guys (Dekker etc.)? No.

The only non-GC rider who gained doping notoriety shortly afterwards was Cancellara with the widespread suspicions of motor doping & his suspect bike swaps in Paris-Roubaix.

Exactly. DQS are everywhere, winning trillions of stages, classics, criteriums etc. but on Grand Tours, they win punch stages & sprint stages whilst the GC guys earn the suspicions of the public.

Sadly, the myth in public perception endures whereby it's the GC mountain climbing/TT winning Tour winners who do the doping. So Cav, Alaphilippe & co are safe, for now.
