I had a few weeks on an EVO shortly after the release and it is an AMAZING frame. Not really worth what Cannondale are charging - but still an excellent frame.

I'm not knocking Cannondale. I own a Scalpel and I owned the SuperSix. Happy with both.

I was talking to a ProTour team doctor (not Liquigas) who is local here, and he was saying that the Evo is one of the best bikes out there for racing. However, it's so light that unnecessary bits have to be added to bring it to weight.

Agree on the weight. The demo I rode was well under 6.8kg fully set up with mech Dura Ace. I guess that it does allow teams to use Power Meters when racing and still hit the UCI weight limit - something pretty useful IMO.

So he prefers something else, whoopeedoo. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with Red. He's a pro so he's paid to ride whatever the team is on. Personal preferences are rarely accommodated unless you're name's Basso or Nibali.

The fact that Quick-step are on SRAM is interesting. They are notoriously hard on equipment because of their classics focus so any shortcomings will be apparent.

More to the point, nice of you to infer that he doesn't like his Sram & Mavic. Bet his employers would be stoked that an ambassador for their brand slags them off in public!

I said he liked his Cannondale, he didn't say anything in 'public'. You can infer anything you want. We'll see if QuickStep is on spam in 2013, even with lotsa $. Basso huh? I think he likes his doctor more than his mechanic.

Giro 2011, Tour 2009 & 2010, Vuelta 2011 isn't too shabby for riders who were equipped with parts that spontaneously explode!

Geox used Shimano equipped team bikes FYI.

No, but your way of reporting his views led one to believe the was less than complimentary.........

Nice of you to skew it that way.

Pros are human like the rest of us. They will naturally have preferences & opinions about parts same as any rider. Their objectivity is a little skewed by virtue of the fact that they don't pay for the stuff, so it's not particularly relevant in the outside world.

Doh!

Too early in the morning.

Still their record of race wins is impressive for a relative newcomer. Shimano took decades to win a GT!

BTW this is what a Shimano rider looks like after a mechanical

It can happen to anyone, Sram, Shimano or Campag equipped.

There was an issue with some Rival or Force levers breaking in this manner. Should be fixed under warranty.

No different to Shimano's 5600 left levers that failed in a couple of months. Still get those coming in for replacement now.

No kidding bit I think you brought up the 'I worked on a Pro bike', thing. Where my shop is has home offices for at least 2 pro teams and probably a few continental teams, lotsa lower tier pro riders, etc. 'Pro Stuff' isn't that special.

Lotsa 'pros' come here to train, not that big of a deal.

If Shimano saturated the pros with sponsorship such as ScRAM has done in the last 4 years, they too would've had many results in the beginning. But last time I checked the rider is winning the races, not their componentry. ;)

Holy crap. That's insane.

Only an idiot/city boy would pay that much for red shifters over here. CRC have them for £339, the great devil ribble have them for £312

No, read the post again
Funny, I am probably one of the few guys on here who has actually had a Pro Tour bike in his stand.

It was a TRS Trek and had full Sram Red on it including the cassette & chain. Wheels were not race wheels but Bontrager Classics, yet the cassette was still a Red one.

It was obvious the bike was well used, but it still worked flawlessly.

All I commented on was what was on the bike and how well it worked.

You, on the other hand, posted this
Just worked on Timmy Duggan's Cannondale(Liquidgas). Cannondale, sram red, Mavic wheels. He loves the frame..................................
The wording leads one to believe that he expressed a negative opinion about his sponsor's kit, which he may have. But did you have to name the rider concerned on an international forum! Highly professional, chapeau!

Checked on our production manager regarding our annual Sram warranties.

Big fat 0!

That's with an annual production level of upwards of 2500 bikes a year. So from more than 500 bikes equipped with Sram, not a dickie bird.

I rest my case.

I can still get SR shifters for less at a few bike shops in Portland than what Ribble is selling Red shifters for. That's amazing to me.

edit: Dura Ace prices @ retail are even more stupid. So I'm not picking on SRAM here.

Both of those prices are below what I can buy Red shifters for from the UK Sram distributor or Cyclesport North (Ribble's Wholesale Arm)

Never thought I'd be in favour of price control being made legal!
