Okay, I really need to become Dictator for Life of the UCI so I can put an end to this nonsense of having races finishing before 5 PM local time, when it's not one of the following reasons:

1. A case like Tour of the Alps, where there are no alternative routes for people heading home from work.

2. The race is clashing with another race.
That would make no difference to the vast majority of people who work full time in jobs where they don’t have opportunity to sneak access to screens.

Just watch on repeat on Discovery+ without looking up the results before you get chance to see the race.

That may be true...

Naah. Bike races happen when they happen, and watching the full thing when you know the results is pointless.
Might as well watch the ringing in of the New Year on rewind.

Germany is southern Denmark!
Its not that difficult to avoid finding out results as long as you stay off social media for a short time.

Gotta love that there are 3 checkpoints before the finish, in a 15k ITT.
Would be nice if in the future they have rival-ghost riders on the screen. On a map, that you can see where the other closest riders were at the same time. Or like in video games.

Is this ITT too long for Milan to keep him in contention for the GC?
If he went full out he could do well, came third in Tirreno-Adriatico over a 10km TT. That said, the sprint yesterday took it out of him and Stage 5 is too hard for him, so he might take it easy and focus on the other two sprints instead

One of my wife's colleagues sneaks off to the bathroom for hours to watch Netflix on his phone. I mean, when you gotta go, you gotta go.

That sounds unreasonably optimistic! :D

Jayco really have a lot of underwhelming fast men behind Groenewegen. Ewan is Ewan, Blake Quick seems unable to handle any race that's not Scheldeprijs, Walscheid hasn't sprinted for himself yet, Mezgec can get some decent placings still but he's not gonna win, and Stewart seems to have had some problems this season as he's now racing his first race since Tirreno.

Thanks! The actual race is indeed somewhat more interesting than TV times.

In which of these corners will Magnus Sheffield crash?

Stewart is pretty fast and won a stage of the Cro race in 2023 and can achieve results in similar lever races.. However, no-one will get the positions that Groenewegen would get in the upcoming one day races in Belgium and France. Forget Ewan, as he has chosen not to ride in Belgium this year and he has not won a flat sprint in 2024.

So this is the race where the best sprinters have been lining up, and mysteriously apparently Geraint Thomas also! I need to watch at least a bit before the Vuelta stage starts...

Milan for the win! Well, maybe not the tt, but the rest yes.

I don't know enough about English football to get the joke.

Very young?

West country accents? Borrrrnmuff?
Young British/Irish, often with double-barrelled surnames or generally names that could be seen in a middle class neighbourhood, like Jack Rootkin-Gray.

Foss screwed for the lead by Girmay there. He was 0,11s down on Bissegger but ended up 0,84s down because he had to go around Girmay at the end. That likely lost him those tens of a second.

Really don't understand why he doesn't get a ticket to the EC. Like Campenaerts 3 days after Vuelta? Seriously? No Evenepoel and Van Aert should mean giving a chance to a youngster. Now he has to ride u23 race again, just taking a spot from actual young guys.
