Post Tour I'm betting Richie is thanking his luck stars he signed on at Sky for another 2 years. I don't think he's worth as much after as he was before. I'd say there's a small question mark over whether he can make 3 weeks without a bad day and how much does that take off a contract.

Riis acted very badly not like gentleman. Whats the use was to continue to pay Porte minimal salary after his Giro perfomance in order to sign Contador? Naturally a rider was offended and sabotaged all next season long. And it's the decision the consequences of which Riis keep feeling in 2012, 2013 and will continue to feel in 2014. What a dumb move that was. Who will leave the team which really appreciates him and who will ride for a team which spits in his face? These questions don't require replies.

I'm not convinced that was an actual bad day after Ax3

Why re-sign with Sky if he wanted his own shot? I'd say he's ready now to at least podium in a GT.

He will also get his own shot now at SKY. I think he wants to go to Greenedge after his current contract and they dont have much support yet for Richie in the mountains so that might be why he wanted to wait.

I think he waited because he knows he can use the two extra years at SKY, where he likes being apparantly and is paid well, to prove himself as a GT leader in the Giro and hopefully(IMO) also in the Vuelta. To increase his value when he looks for a team to back his bid to win the Tour, if he has two GT wins to his name he'll have plenty of suitors to drive up his price, that is if everything goes according to plan.

I want more money.

There's no other way to read this. "Chris is a once in a rider generation, no one can beat him" (presumably at the tour de france) followed by "I want to win a GT, any GT... blah blah blah there's more than the Tour". And he's LEADING at the Giro next year. Yeah, unless he has a crystal ball that sees Henao, Dombrowski or someone else squeezing him out in 2 years, he's got plenty of opportunity as the #2 guy at Sky for his stated ambitions. More money indeed.

Not surprised in reading Porte's statement-I even foresee him going after Froome in his last year's contract, claiming to have the same rights as him to fight for the TDF title. SKY better get Froome what he's asking for, before he begins to have his own ideas.

Nah, Porte and Froome are best friends. Porte will comply for 2 years for sure when he has to help him out at Tour or such.

I think its logical he wants more of a leader role, at Tour, something he wont get at Sky.. seems that logic applies to many other riders bar Porte judging by few responses here.
