So what, while even dopers could get nowhere near Armstrong, Sky chanced upon not 1 but 2 riders that can ride faster than Armstrong, while totally clean. Do the Sky's 2 or 3 remaining believers even realize how ridiculous a proposition that would be?
Hitch, I think you underestimate how many MAMILs go down to Evan's Cycles on the weekend and buy their favourite SKY kit.
Anyone who follows the sport generally should have a reasonable clue what's going on, but the July / Weekend warriors are an entirely different prospect, I feel.

Ok. So no rider can EVER improve? Kwiatkowski in his short career hasn't been a gt rider so he can never ever ever become a gt rider. Any good performance he does will forever be explained by everyone else sucking.movingtarget said:Porte put 8 seconds in Kwiatkowski who is not even a GT rider.

It was a very peculiar climb. Just the sort of thing Richie and uhm Geraint excel at. No wonder no one could keep up.Benotti69 said:Ryo Hazuki said:and this is aru's first race of the year and the climb didn't suit him at all
Yeah, it was a road going up and he was on a bike, so probably not suited to him.......![]()

I predict the time trial will be just of the type where R and G are really good at but it won't suit the rest of the peloton at all

??? Geraint excel at?! Till this climb, we didn't know on which climbs Geraint excels, cause he never excel on any serious climb (longer than 3km). But Sky magic works again

By the same token, Wiggins never improved to win the Tour de France. 133 other riders all regressed at the same time.
Because every rider will forever only be as good as movingtarget decides he is allowed to be. Improvements and regression Don't exist.
PS the last time I remember seeing this argument was 2 years ago when Froome beat Santamborgio and Horner in Tirreno. The performance, dozens of now banned posters, rushed in to tell us, can't have been good because he only beat a 41 year old, and a average domestique.
Of course Santamborgio later ended up dropping gt winners in the giro while Horner posted the 2nd fastest Angliru time ever. I didn't think there were any posters stupid enough to make this argument again after that.
PS2 This isn't a gt. So "Kwiatkowski isn't a gt rider" is a pretty dumb argument as well.

This.
Porte is riding very well at the moment, and Contador will be taking notice. Porte's best is close to Contador's best (despite the major discrepancy in palmares), and it's not a question of whether he can be strong in the third week of a GT (see TDF '13), but whether he can produce twenty-one consistently good days.
Having said that, his current climbing level is probably a little below of what we saw from Froome and Contador last month in Spain. But Richie is well positioned to be in tip top shape come the Giro.
