I'm furious that Valverde does not do the Giro. He has never participated. There are so many Ardennes-like stages to win + weak competition which means an almost guaranteed podium and if - I hope not - something goes wrong regarding Contador ...he might even win.

You have to do all 3 GT's at least once in your life. If not, you are half a rider.

Yes, but i think the bad weather and the italian climbs could be a problem for him. I think he wants to peak for the Ardennes and the Vuelta and made a deal with Nairo, he'll help him durning the TdF and Nario will ride the Vuelta as his superdomestique.

What about De Gendt? Any news? After the Barolo TT where all the Quickstep riders were awesome by default, he was completely anonymous for the rest of the season. This guy is such an enigma... What will he do? Assuming Uran rides the Tour, will he lead in the Giro, perhaps alongside Brambilla? Maybe that's too much, I'll be OK if takes some high profile stage wins in 1 week stage races.

He signed with Lotto Soudal (Lotto Belisol).

I think Majka winning the Vuelta has more chance of happening than Contador winning a Tour.
It is very likely that Froome wins TdF, skips Vuelta, and the rest of the riders arrive tired. He can hold his peak for a really long time + once Contador fails i might be too late to go for stages anyway, we will see how it goes but I dont see him riding in the back

Yea Majka winning Vuelta would be great. Now if he leaves a little gas in the tank after the Tour and goes all in for the Vuelta, while everyone else is tired then he has a great chance. I'm really looking forward to seeing how much he can improve.

Majka who I didn't really care about made me such a fan this year. Could be my favorite rider when Contador retires, we'll see.

Wow I didn't know that. He guess he will do whatever he feels like then considering the team's lack of real depth these days. Maybe that's better for him instead of being a domestique.

They lack depth in mountains only really.

Spritnting and hilly wise they got leaders and deluxe guys. Cobbles less, but still decent.

Majka will spend the entire season slaving in the Tinkoff's train to setup Contador's GT assault. He will struggle getting a big result next year imo. TdP again, maybe a Vuelta stage win. Thats it.

Upside would a successful Ardennes campaign, but can he perform in these type of races?

They have good riders in every department but only very few of them can guarantee a result that makes worth riding for them. Hence the lack of depth in my opinion, which should give De Gendt plenty of freedom.

Well true, however hilly wise Wellens, Gallopin and Vanendert(Ardennes) can guarantee results. Especially as the first two should develop further from their amazing season this year.

Moutain wise he'll have his freedom to chase stage wins for sure.

He's either motivated and trains well and gets good results, or his usual self, lazy and parties too much. Depends which one turns up :p

This

No way Majka will just slave for Contador. I think they'll have pretty seperate schedules, Majka can lead all the stage races he doesn't race together with Contador, which should be quite a bit, he can also lead the ardennes and the Vuelta. Only Tour I think is garuanteed slave duty for Contador

Dont think that he can do great in Ardennes. TdF really suits him this season so I hope he will have more of a free role in it, especially since Contador will have enough support anyway. Vuelta....need to wait for parcours but his only hope is that Froome wins Tour and doesnt show up for Vuellta. I think first is very likely but I think he would still do Vuelta just to show that he is the one who can do the double

Riding Trentino and having the TDF as your main Goal seems a little unusual.

Ion Izzagirre and Benat Intxausti will lead Movistar GC chances at Giro.

Good opportunity for them both, especially to see if Ion can continue his progress. Both had fair share of success at Giro, Ion with stage win and Intxausti with stage win and top 10 but not his best this year.

No prep races at all in January or February? Seems strange.

Nope, only a training camp at altitude on Tenerife between the 16th of February and the 2nd of March.
Nibalis first race will be Dubai
