Imagine winning the Tour and that not counting as a win. Or a stage at a Tour. A win is a win and riders involved for sure know when they won. Not always, but usually they tend to raise their arms high in the air. That counts as a win, unless it turns out it was too early or too late. Simple metric. Look for the arms.

Arms -> Won.
No arms -> pissed.

Remco will be the last one reaching 100 wins as he has 'only' 50 and Pogačar should be the one getting more career wins, if he keeps his staggering pace, I can see him reaching 150.
It seems hard to calculate pace this early in a career because riders turn pro at different ages with different levels of readiness. And one off events like a broken hip skew the trajectory. I give Remco and Pog even odds for end of career victory count. Depends a lot on who stays hungry (who's a Valverde and who's a Sagan?)

That‘s a big hit to Roglič‘s 100 quest if we are going by that metric.

Because I feel single day riders and sprinters are discredited this way. You already have the same amount of chances of winning a stage during a stage race for mountains and TT, as a sprinter for a flat stage, and now you also get an extra point if you win the whole thing.
What are you talking about? Who get more pro wins, greipel or Nibali? But who is a better rider who won biggest stage races?

Imagine a journalist say to contador what was the best win you had in 2015? And he will answer that mickey mouse stage in ruta del sol or whatever that he won, because apparently Giro d'italia shouldn't count.

Then why not winning green jersey or mountain jersey? Where do we draw the line. Only counting winning a single race makes more sense to me.
A GC is a race, who is the fastest over the total course, same as Paris roubaix is a race or stage 6 of volta cataluna is a race. Green jersey is not a race. When we talk about pro wins we talk about winning races

So you’d tell Charteau that his biggest win was Tour de Langkawi overall and not the Tour KoM?

I'd tell him this was his biggest win:

Anthony Charteau‘s third straight Tropicale Amissa Bongo win is also pretty special but only if you can take previous results into account.

I thought all the victory stats was about race wins, not wins in subcompetitions within those races.

Whether or not a win in a subcompetition in a prestigious race is bigger than a race win in a smaller race is another question entirely.

It’s not about being the better rider, that’s a different discussion. The number of wins doesn’t make you a better rider.

Can't be a win if it isn't a win.
Yet they’re labeled as the current and former winner of the classifications.

I'd tell him this was his biggest win:

Yes, they sure talked about that a lot during his career.

Should the winner of a combativity prize also count? The winner of a KOM competition in a one-day race? Best Catalan in Volta a Catalunya?

Only a select few will ever win the last one, so maybe it should count as half a victory.
