If Rasmussen wasn't the trigger (and this is a separate incident) then it's a mystery who implicated him.

Prior to 2004 the extent of his career was MTB and RB3. No one at Rabo would have spoken to USADA, who would he have come across in MTB?

And USADA would only be involved if it was related to their existing investigation. The Danish ADA would have gone direct to CCES.

USADA interviewed Rasmussen themselves, they were involved from very early on. But Hesjedal (not to mention Vaughters) would be a complete idiot if he didn't race straight to the nearest anti-doping authority as soon as he heard that Rasmussen was singing in Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

I think Telford has got JV bank on

Now I’m sort of ****ed off about the whole thing. According to the article linked above, Jonathan knew all about Ryder’s drug usage and confession when he was giving me **** publicly for calling Ryder out. What a ***.

So Garmin get Telford into to see the Garmin set up and present a clean image, just like Sky have done with Walsh but the reality is far different.

Cheers for clearing that up.

When did Hesjedal do his 'confession' to WADA etc.?

The fact that Rasmussen confessed everything to the Danish doping authorities was known in january, Hesjedal could at that point have known with near certainty that Rasmussen fingered him (Rasmussen said he told them everything he knew, including names). If Hesjedal's confession came after that, it is of little to no value, just somebody who knows he's going to get busted trying to stay ahead of the story.

If the Hesjedal confession came before that, it would have a little more value, although the fact that he only confessed to crimes outside the SOL makes it more than a little supicious.

Does it matter what is the timeline? If Hesjedal went to selective confession then it is not just Rasmussen who matters, Hesjedal knew that USADA cases ares still open (Bruyneel for instance), quite possibly other names or witnesses may come forward, so with selective confession he risks anyway.

It will be funny what Bruyneel has to say on the subject.

yep, but its becoming increasing clear our friends at USADA are very creative indeed. JB will have to direct the cannons rather than using a shotgun approach perhaps. More to come fr sure.

btw. Can we actually talk about JV the same frank way we talk about guys like Bruyneel and Riis?
I've often gotten the feeling JV enjoys more protection than those guys for the simple reason that he posts in here.

I can't see why you shouldn't.

As long as you don't personally attack him when engaging in a discussion on here.

When he's addressed as a public figure the same rules apply as if it was directed towards other public figures, but when he's addressed as a forum user the same rules apply as for other forum users. At least that's my take on it.

So we now have 9 of the 18 GTs since 2008 being won by official dopers.

The other 9?

Nibali (x2)
Evans

Luckily (?) Ryder's blood does not follow the Hct = 3 x Hgb rule, or in November, 2011, he would have had the same Hct (48) that he had AFTER using EPO under Rasmussen's direction. Then 48.3 in January, 2012.

Very, very lucky...

Yeh ok, this just clicked.

Why didn't he apply for an exemption like Ricco or Contador? I think JV has said that it is always high although we only have his 2012 values not 2008-2013. If I think about it, at this stage he should release the full set. If 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013 look much like 2010 and 2012 then it would present a pretty convincing case. JV has always been convinced by it so I'm not sure what there is to lose.

As noted in a post above, I can confirm that I advised JV directly that I was aware of strong evidence of Ryder's past doping at or about the time that he was signing Ryder.

Thus, even if Ryder had not advised him, others like myself had.

I am not taking sides with respect to Tilford's comments, as it would be inappropriate and possibly against labor law for JV to have participated in such a public dialog about an employee, but we should not consider JV to be an idiot or ignorant about doping in the peloton.

Dave.

So like Armstrong, did Ryder lie in his confession? He said the "mistake" (lol) happened over 10 years ago and was short lived, which is implying he didn't dope after 2003, and definitely not at US Postal or Phonak. Right. And of course not when he won the ****ing Giro d'Italia.

Ryder is another slipstream guy with an imo undeserved "honest" reputation. The guy seems very slippery to me, just like Millar, Vandevelde, Danielson...

they aint called SLIPSTREAM for nothing ;) :D
