Mauro Santambrogio, who is nearing the end of his two-year ban for an EPO positive test which expires on November 2, plans to return to the peloton next season with the Amore & Vita team, Tuttobiciweb reports.

Yes it is still not two years since he tested positive. According to Italian media he had been talking to CIRC and got his ban reduced. I don't think there has been any announcemnets from CONI about his ban, which is the usual procedure, he just turned up on the UCI sanction list.

The mention of Sella made me think, and I wonder if this news and the Fortunato Baliani retirement with immediate effect are linked in any way. I mean, the guy's 40, but he's been plugging away in the Continental scene with seemingly no interest in retirement for a while.

I also wonder if santa told all about vini-fantini, leading to rambo being target-tested and eventually popped for EPO as well...

100% this, if you take cortisone for a long time you most likely will get crushings. But you can always go back to normal if you quit. Takes about 6 months for some.

Mick Rogers almost certainly has a doping (his Ferrari connections and the Freiburg visit in the past confiirm this, I hope he wasn't doping at Sky (and if he was I don't think it was with the knowledge of the team) however I am also dubious that he had his best numbers at Sky despite what he said.

Nah, he used fairy dust to pull the Sky train up climbs until only 3 Sky riders and 4 or 5 competitors remained in contact.

Amazing how many were smack at 50% when that was legal and the only test. That is one powerful placebo effect.
