Hes back!

Mauro Santambrogio, who is nearing the end of his two-year ban for an EPO positive test which expires on November 2, plans to return to the peloton next season with the Amore & Vita team, Tuttobiciweb reports.

think it was actually an 18 mo ban not 2yrs

Yes it is still not two years since he tested positive. According to Italian media he had been talking to CIRC and got his ban reduced. I don't think there has been any announcemnets from CONI about his ban, which is the usual procedure, he just turned up on the UCI sanction list.

The mention of Sella made me think, and I wonder if this news and the Fortunato Baliani retirement with immediate effect are linked in any way. I mean, the guy's 40, but he's been plugging away in the Continental scene with seemingly no interest in retirement for a while.

I also wonder if santa told all about vini-fantini, leading to rambo being target-tested and eventually popped for EPO as well...

It obviously points to him no longer abusing cortisone.

100% this, if you take cortisone for a long time you most likely will get crushings. But you can always go back to normal if you quit. Takes about 6 months for some.

Santambrogio thinks the PEDs had no effect on him....

"I made a mistake, but doping had little to do with my performances and I’ll show that in 2015.”

...hope he got a refund from his dealer.

So JV should be all over him then. Sign him up and reform him into a cleans rider.

So why did he bother trying to dope in the first place if it had no effect on his performances, utter tripe.

Does that mean you dont believe Hesjedal either?

Did Ryder say it had no effect, if so yes I don't believe him.

I am also sceptical about when Ryder says he stopped using EPO aswell.

Do you believe Mick Rogers was clean when he says he had his best numbers on Sky?

Mick Rogers almost certainly has a doping (his Ferrari connections and the Freiburg visit in the past confiirm this, I hope he wasn't doping at Sky (and if he was I don't think it was with the knowledge of the team) however I am also dubious that he had his best numbers at Sky despite what he said.

So he lied about his best numbers, but he was telling the truth that he wasn't doping...........

Ryder on EPO benefits:

“It didn’t help at all. I had the worst round of races (on the mountain bike) I ever had. I thought ‘Is it really worth it?’ ”

Returning to North America in June 2004, he simply stopped doping. “It just never happened again.

Of course Ryder neglects to mention that his results on the road with USPS in the spring of 2004 were pretty fabulous domming for big George in classics then 5th in Klassica Primavera for himself.

Too bad Santa had to waste his time suspended and money on EPO

Michael Barry and Tom Danielson have also said similar, doping has little effect best performances clean!

It is amazing that so many riders were duped into using EPO thinking it would work wonders for their careers

Nah, he used fairy dust to pull the Sky train up climbs until only 3 Sky riders and 4 or 5 competitors remained in contact.

Amazing how many were smack at 50% when that was legal and the only test. That is one powerful placebo effect. :D
