I wish the 3's here were filled with clinically obese guys in their late 50's. I would probably race more if they were.

I'd have been in cat 4 if there were enough riders to make a cat 4 at these events. That first race was a problem for me because it had a hairpin that strung the group out and it didn't take long before I couldn't accelerate off hard enough to stay with the group. I did manage one time to hang with the main group on a course with faster turns. My goal all along had been simply to feel what the peloton was like and see if I had the nerve to turn with them. I had no illusions.

So I guess it depends on what you mean by keeping up.
