I'd LOVE it, but most likely not going to happen.
Hate to say it, but there is going to be a TON of attacks on the Stelvio and he can't cover all of them. If he tries he will blow up. Most likely will loose a bit of time to Scarface (but not enough to fear in the TT).

When's the last time someone won the Giro WITHOUT winning a stage?
Contador in his only Giro win :D

What would be the ideal cogs to put on your cassette for the two biggest climbs today?

I suspect the favourites are all using 50/34 and 11x25 as normal anyway.

Anybody know for certain?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what place does Purito need to get here at the finish to secure the points jersey?

4th if I'm not mistaken.

This is getting funny. It should be better Vandevelde stop to pull in the group, nobody is doing anything and De Gendt, Cunego, Nieve are digging in.

hesjedal being forced to ride at the front on the flat

Things could get interesting. Garmin needs to stop Vande Velde.
De Gendt is not that far in the GC.

Why don't they just stop at the nearest bar and have a beer or something?

They used to do that in the 50s, 60s and even a bit in the 70s. Stop at a bar, take anything they wanted, then the organizers would pay for it

They are forcing Hesjedal, the favourtie for the win to bring back De Gendt. Hesjedal needs VdV to drop back to ride pace.
