Hi dude I assure You I am not on anything. There were a slightly heated discussion going on here earlier, Most of which posts were deleted by the administrator. And I did not ride the Tourmalet, I have ridden the Col De La Croix De Fer, The Col du Glandon, The col Du Sabot , Alpe D' Huez, The Col de Ornon. The Col Du Galibier. The lauterat. An the col d ' Izoard. And Yes they wer easy. You know don't insult me. I have been insulted quite a bit Today. I don't know why people have a hard time believing that SOME ONE SUCH as Myself found those climbs easy. When You train hard and I mean hard. Like climbing 10 ,000 vertical feet several times a week, for several months. The longest of which is about two miles. A short climb with an average gradient of 13% one mile long .with sections of between 16 and 25 %. Climb up and down that 20 times in a row. Put in that kind of training as well as other training . Yes You will find those climbs easy.

I posted this in "Contador Doped" but it also has bearing here:

couldn't remember which thread had the "meat" discussion but the duplicity is increasing:

if the "meat was awful in France" why didn't he bring more, perhaps enough for the two meals used as the excuse and the Tourmalet recovery meal?

perhaps more importantly, where is the receipt with the name and location of the source?

Oct 6th 2010

“Astana demanded from me a receipt for everything and I gave it to them. Now everyone in the world is looking for this receipt. The receipt exists and Astana has it, and it will reappear if they want it to.”

“There’s nothing to hide. It was just a string of bad coincidences,” Olalla continued. “It was my responsibility to cook the food and the hotel denied us use of the kitchen. At the same time, I talked with (Cerrón) and told him I needed a few things and if he could bring me some steaks from Spain because the meat in France was awful. This is what happened and it’s been a string of coincidences that have led to all this.”

http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/10/news/cook-confirms-contadors-rest-day-steaks-came-from-spain_145108

but, previously and translated from the spanish:

7/23/2010

"Yesterday went to market and bought Pau beef tenderloin, baked potatoes and pasta making, nearly 500 grams per person. Culminated in a salad: "It is the ideal meal to recover from the battle of the Tourmalet. Have been as new."

They forgot the rule... "Loose Lips, Sink Ships" Say Nothing.

But why invent a story out of whole cloth which requires people who do not belong to the team to maybe or maybe not lie for you? Or worse yet, first lie and then, after the crushing weight and pressure of the UCI has been exerted*, now declare that Contador forced you to lie for him?

*Does the UCI even interview or have the power to follow up leads in cases like this? Sounds like a late night comedy skit.

"I'm Patty McQuaid and this is my partner Henk Verbruggen. And we are...

I'm sure this has been fully vetted in here, so I apolgize in advance, but why isn't this as simple as testing the samples of the other Astana riders who ate the steak ? Shouldn't they be positive for clen too ?

Right...... I'm sure Contador and the UCI would love that. If they all had tested positive, it would have demonstrated a systematic team sponsored doping program (sound familiar?). If they don't, then he's dead meat (pun intended). Obviously it doesn't matter though because the rest of the team wasn't teated at the time.

I am sure that receipt will turn up somehow - if they want it to LOL

Well absolutely. As we know, in this sport post-dated TUE's have a way of materializing out of thin air when needed so I don't see why a simple receipt should be a problem. I mean why don't they just grab one of those old analog cash register receipts that have nothing but a few lines of numbers on them and say "look, here's the receipt, are we done here? Conti's gonna race in a UCI race tomorrow, we're all good." :D

There is some interesting stuff to read here, including the fact that in humans one side effect of eating clen. tainted meat is extreme illness. I don't remember a day that Contador seemed sick during the tour........
http://www.mad-cow.org/~tom/clenbut_cheat.html

You should've taken a look at his face after the final time trial this Tour. He looked like a 50 year old.

And he himself said he had stomach cramps the night before the time trial and didn't sleep well. He said this during the Tour by the way, so it's not an excuse he made after he knew he tested positive.

You would think food security would be a huge issue for the chef. If I were the chef responsible for the "pharmacological" wellbeing of the team I would buy every piece of food myself and would keep it in my sight or under lock and key until it was eaten by the team.

Many riders go to great lengths to avoid accidental contamination. Taylor Phinney says he won't even take a vitamin tablet, Cav says he won't even take an Aspirin. Yet Alberto eats a piece of meat from some obscure butcher that has travelled from Spain in someone's cooler?

Don't start introducing logic into this, you'll ruin it for everyone...

the UCI and the WADA are not government agencies. if they want to stop him from working he can appeal to the EU courts where if there is doubts about how it got in there they can over-rule the UCI's sanction

But in that case, the burden of proof would have to be on Contador to prove that it did come from steak. Otherwise, every single doper ever caught could come up with a stupid excuse and get their suspensions overturned.

"I never injected EPO... some random guy stuck me with a hypodermic while I was asleep in my hotel room."

"I never used amphetimines... someone must have spiked my food."

"I couldn't have taken the clear. Someone must have put them in my suntan lotion."

If Contadors excuse is valid... so are all of the above. Simply proving that a positive test COULD have caused by accidental use isn't enough to overturn a suspension like this... or else ANYONE who EVER failed ANY drug test that resulted in them losing their jobs would be able to sue to get their jobs back. There is ALWAYS some stupid excuse that could possibly cause you to have "mistakenly" taken a drug.

I don't know why we're still talking about this. McQuaid says it looks like a clear case of food contamination to him. The expert has spoken - open and shut case. 'Cross season is starting now dudes, let's get happy and excited!

I'm surprised that so few have jumped on that: they admit that 'a steak' was transported from Spain to France, likely in a cooler considering that it was mid July. This is probably so close to the truth, you just need to replace 'steak' with 'bag'. Possibly the guy even had a nice dinner (steak?) on the way. Keep the lies simple and close to the truth. People might have recognized the guy, there might be receipts for gas, food etc. so to make it plausible who knows.

I don't get it, what's the BFD that there is a receipt? So that shows the steak was purchased and not stolen. Does the receipt say whether of not it was laced with a performance enhancing substance? If not, there is zero point to this as a story.

I think the idea is that when you know from which shop it was bought, you might be able to trace it back to the farm for all the good this might do.

I agree, it doesn't show that (i) Bertie ate the steak, or (ii) that it was tainted with clen to start with. The only thing it does right now is that it gives the 'believers' another straw to grasp.

Obviously you can't test them if they didn't give a urine sample that day. The only other Astana rider who was sampled that day was Vino, who, according to the team's press release did not eat the Spanish meat. Bertie is on his own here.

Actually, Contador had given samples the day AFTER which contained Clenbuterol albeit in lower concentration.

I have no idea if other riders were tested the day after, but if they did they too should have some residue of Clenbuterol in their samples.

It wouldn't be damning evidence against if Clenbuterol wasn't found.
But if Clenbuterol was found then Contadors meat defense would been strengthened.

No one seems to have disclosed this information, probably because it lies in a common interest to keep things hush-hush.
