I would have Pederson and MVP as clearer favourites than Pog.

I have Pog in the second set of favoutites with Ganna, Pidcock, Matthews and Philipsen (Philipsen may not have recovered though).

His best bet may be to try and launch on Cipressa and hope a 5/6 others join him and work with him and then hope he is strongest on Poggio and the work others do has cost them.

Given Ganna, Pederson and MvP form as well as Pidcock i have a hard time to see him being able to drop everyone on Poggio given its profile- as such i don’t think he can bank on just trying that again.

Picture this; 150 km of major selective crosswind action in La Primavera. It would turn into an epic race (not just the last 30 min) and shred the peloton to pieces, with constant fighthing and action. Sign me up for that.

Knowing that won't happen, at least give me rain all day—not just for 30 minutes at the end, which only makes it more dangerous and hardly nothing else in terms of fatigue.

They will not have wind enough?

Uran just happened to look the other way when Vinokourov started his sprint. There were a lot of allegations he got paid to lose. Of course it was never proven but.. well just look it up on Youtube if you wanna have a laugh
I saw the race. It was a stupid mistake from Uran. I don't believe something suspicious happened. On the other hand, Kolobnev really received 100k from a fund owned by Vino.

Rain and cold are important to make MSR harder. The goal is to reduce the peloton before and in Cipressa. It is easier for UAE to be in the front with just a peloton of 80 riders than a peloton of 130 riders.

The weather will be cool but the rain could be only in the last part of the course. Not enough to make the whole race harder but enough to make it more dangerous.

Those forecasts seem to change daily. I checked a couple days ago and it said rain was more likely during the first part of the race. Ah well, the weather is just as unpredictable as the race I guess.

The rain will be at least partially convective in nature so not easy to predict timing. However, considering the approach of low at the end of the day plus the best time for convection, late afternoon seems most likely.

My personal Make A Wish Foundation scenario:

Pogacar nukes Cipressa, as he will as well. MvdP follows, along with Pedersen (I've gained more and more respect for him and the way he kills himself for his teammates every chance he gets).

They actually work with Pogi, and the trio creates an epic version. As for the winner, I wouldn't mind whoever among those three. I love MvdP, he's generational. Pedersen earning his first monument would be fantastic as well. Pog will win it regardless one year, dont mind leaving the cannibal hungry for more he's still only 26.
