I'm reminded of the first stage of the Giro. Pogacar was overtaken by Narvaez and Schachman. The rest is history.

He seems to have lost some punch on shorter climbs in exchange for better climbing. First stage of the Giro, San Lucca...

Who is gonna replace them?
We need to wait for the high mountains to see how strong is UAE.
Unfortunately, Yates has already looked bad in the high mountains of the Giro.
Narvaez was bad in Paris-Nice. We haven't seen more of him in the mountains. but I don't think he'll improve much.

This is a myth, and it is spread all over the world right now.

The fact is simpler, he has improved more in long time efforts.
I don't see it that way. I think it's the only thing that hasn't improved, and has even gotten worse.
But in return, hehas improved in other aspects that make him better.

I'm not just saying this today. Last year, it seemed that way to me at various points during the season.

That's why today's situation doesn't worry me as @rafa92 says.

The TT will key to know how good is Pogacar. I expect him to be just 10-15 seconds behind Remco and 10 seconds faster than Vingegaard.
I expect vingegaard to be on par with pog, and both of them to be less than 10 sec from remco

heaven help us if the UAE team finds form. They've already won 42 days.
They can reach 50 wins by the end of TdS. It is hard but Almeida is coearly the number one favorite there and Pogacar can win a lot more in this Dauphiné.

6 between Abruzzo and Asturias.
Another 10-15 between riders who won't even be in the Tour.

The important thing is the climbing levem of Yates, Naravez, and Sivakov. Adam very poor this year.

Visma has won half of them, but one of those victories is the Giro, with a record climb of Finestre by Simon.

By the way, UAE was also the team with the most victories in 2023. The same year that Visma won all 3 GTs, taking all the podium at the Vuelta.

I agree with you but it's still impressive.

The climbing level of the domestics will not determine if Vingegaard or Pogacar will win the TDF. If these two are in form then they will dominate the race. You refer to 2023. That was a case of Pogacar having an injury affected preparation. He could have had the best climbing domestics of all time but he was not going to win that TDF.

Remco and Vingo made sure pogi was a protected rider. There was nothing left for the team to do but drop back and stay out of trouble
Visma were protecting the break. So in that sense yeah, there was not much to do for UAE. But this is just symptomatic for that team, they don't operate as a team.

Yup. When Pogacar or Vingegaard attack, domestiques will be 2 minutes down in 5 km.

I think it's worth keeping in mind that who's better now is less important than who improves or stays in top form over the next six weeks. I think Lefevre was exactly right in making that point. We have over a month until the Tour really bites in the mountains. I think all of these guys want to be undercooked a bit right now.
True, but if they are all roughly the same undercooked, now is an important marker in time.
