Maybe the whole podium will be UAE this yearAlmedia clearly on a different level. He is the perfect GT-rider, so I could easily see him top-3 the Tour like Adam last year.

Imagine the luxury of Pogacar cracking and the DS is like, "Never mind, we have the next two or three riders in line to take yellow."Maybe the whole podium will be UAE this year

At least Tour's route is very well designed in the first weekend. Peloton will be nervous and excited to start the biggest race in the world but there are hard hilly stages to select the peloton and avoid havoc in the last 10 km.My TdF wishes for Pogačar and team:
- No crashes or illnesses
- Team cohesion
- Sufficient rouleur strength
Also, Pogačar to win and Almeida podium. Perhaps a pony, while I'm at it.
Not selective enough and very far from the finish (the last climb).don't underestimate the first stage. the last four climbs are in succession, without flats and are demanding. it's a stage where the team can make the difference and seeing the condition of Yates and Almedia... watch out. if someone is not having a good day he risks big
They may set it up for Pogacar to try to attack. Otherwise they can probably try to control it for a 20-25 man group sprint with PogNot selective enough and very far from the finish (the last climb).

It‘s really the best stage for Remco to really make a Roglič or a Vingegaard suffer, question is if Quickstep DS have the balls to make it happen on Stage 1Not selective enough and very far from the finish (the last climb).
Roglic will not suffer in this type of stage. Roglic will have a hard time in week 3, specially in stage 20.It‘s really the best stage for Remco to really make a Roglič or a Vingegaard suffer, question is if Quickstep DS have the balls to make it happen on Stage 1
How in the world do you come to the conclusion that Remco can make Roglic suffer on this kind of stage? It‘s really the best stage for Remco to really make a Roglič or a Vingegaard suffer, question is if Quickstep DS have the balls to make it happen on Stage 1
Specially after seeing Remco's level in Dauphiné.How in the world do you come to the conclusion that Remco can make Roglic suffer on this kind of stage?

I wouldn‘t necessarily either, but realistically it‘s still his best shot at doing something to his podium rivals. He could count on the ITT and wheelsucking, but it would not be a promising strategy. This stage is definitely similar to Clasica San Remco, which he‘s also good at and which would favor him over Roglič, possibly.I would not compare stage 1 with Liège.
I mean a pony is good and all, but what are they going to do with it?
This is not a classic, but the first stage of the TdF. Would be different if it was stage 15 or something, but its not. Everyone's fresh and this is their biggest target, and Pog and UAE are not just gonna sit there and do nothing. Also Remco magically finding legs to pull of a stunt like that is highly inprobable because god knows you need incredible legs to actually do something like that this early on a stage like this.I wouldn‘t necessarily either, but realistically it‘s still his best shot at doing something to his podium rivals. Sorry for derailing the thread
Wellens seems to have some ideas.
Picture doesn't seem to work sadly.
