Don't believe they will do anything, specially after seeing stage 2. The last climb in stage 1 is not hard and a little bit too far from the finish.
Yes I fear the last climb is to easy for it beeing worth bothering. Judging from how Pogacar rode the Giro if that climb was any closer to the finish he seems to jump on everything these days.

So you think its better chance at stage 2, its punchy more like stage 1 of the giro this year?

Completely, UAE can rip the peloton in pieces before San Luca. Then just unleash Yates for 2 minutes before Pogacar's attack. Can't see anyone surviving to Yates (bar Roglic).

As for potential cooperation. I feel that the top teams should be interested in testing Jonas, said that the plan could be for Pogi to try to wear leaders jerseys from stage 1 onwards, it's just his thing. So for other teams, although it could make sense to them to stress test Jonas, might be a bit reluctant to help Pogi from the get go, supporting his racing style.

So i guess anything can happen but the biggest surprise to me would be if UAE doesn't drill it from the get go.

I can see UAE sending riders up the road instead of the typical train. I just cannot picture Adam, Joao and Ayuso in an organize train for Pogacar. I just can't. Maybe they'll prove me wrong. But I'll go with the sending riders up the road theory better.
Adam did it last year to set up Pogacar’s attacks after they dislodged the Jumbo train and Almeida said he will work for Pogacar, has worked for Pog, and worked for Adam. It’s Ayuso who is the wild card. But if it’s close and all four are up there I bet anything UAE will be sending attacks like crazy.

Doubt they’ll do that because that leaves too much room for someone else to win. Yates, Ayuso, Almeida are too good to send up ahead. If they get 2-3min they could actually win if the others aren’t good enough.

Also tactically they are quite *** so I doubt they really think this through like Visma would.

They can try attacking with Yates, Almeida and Ayuso at some point (while they are still close in the GC) to force JV or Vingo himself to chase. It's definitely a plausible tactic for some stage, especially if it turns out Vingo is really strong. If UAE is confident Pogacar has the power advantage then a brutal train will be used to distance his rivals as much as possible (Almeida and Yates' maximal pace applied for 80% of the climb can be too much for anybody except Pog to handle).

I think the following likely cenario might come true. UAE prepared and stacked a team to rightly get what in their view is theirs: the Tour. Remember that they were planning it already in 2023. They were assuming that Jumbo would also be stacked with talent. Which it is nonetheless, but with two crash hindered stars.

So mutinies apart, it might come true that UAE will prove just too strong and domestique duties might be complicated in the process. By assuring Pogi a victory, the podium itself may turn into a matter of settling the inner hierarchy inside UAE or with other contenders. A likely cenario if Vingo fades and Roglic is not a threat to 1st place.

Having to picture Almeida and Ayuso like you say in a train like that its hard to see but I suspect the cohesion is extremely high and all aboard its not like they dont know the tactics looong before they enter the race its no surprises, theyve even orginased the order in the train barring any setbacks which can happen then they switch it around.

They all knowned this for along time theres no ego beeing hurt here and noone wanne shoot themself in the foot i find that not relevant at all to think about even, all is aboard but sending someone up the road like you say might be a very smart move atleast in the beginning to play other cards into action which later can be used to force someones hand. You also create a plan B which is very handy to in this circumstance regarding pogacar double.

Unless Pogacar crash or is bad after the giro (which might very well turn our to be the case, weve seen that before in a double giro tour attempt) sending someone up the road late in the race unless they know hes not the guy i dont see happening however, early in the race i think its even a smart move and also see that happening.

In my opinion Pogi will need to set things straight, when it comes to internal team hierarchy, and i do agree he plans to do that ASAP. In my opinion it doesn't really benefit Pogi all that much if he has a team member close in GC in lets say week 3. That would in my opinion come down to one more thing to worry about and a lot of opportunities not taken. And that just doesn't suit his style of racing.

Don't worry, Pogi is the captain.

With Kuss winning last years Vuelta I don't think we will see the likes of Yates, Almeida, Ayuso, Vlasov, Hindley, Landa, Kuss and Jorgenson in the breakaway unless they are already down on time in GC.

If there will be any of teammates close in GC standings by the beginning of week 3 the domestique job was not done properly.

There is no doubt in my mind that Pogi is clear number one and UAE wants this double this year by the same rider.
