In the end I dont think Pogacar will do the Vuelta this year but I think that would be a mistake. No one knows how much years he has left at the top. Strong riders are upcoming and a career changing injury can occur every day.

You kind of propose him exchanging winning tripple in a single year for extending the career. ...I don't think winning the Vuelta will be much of accomplishment after conquering the Giro-Tour double with multiple supreme demostrations in this fashion.

Taking all 3 is sweet, but it's not worth jeopardizing perspectives. Let's not get carried away and remember the level of Pogacar's expectations and aspirations. Yes, he's got 1-2-3, who knows how many prime seasons left, but once he realizes he can't pull it off as he's used to do, his motivation will fall dramatically. He won't want to compete for 2-3rd or 5th spot just due to genuine love to this sport. Sunset for riders of his calibre tends to be quite fast. My takeaway is Pogi will aim to get the most out of these years emotionally, financially and he'll try to extend the timeframe of staying on the very top.
