"There will always be doubts, cycling was a sport that had a very troubled past, before my time. There will always be people, whatever the sport, who are jealous of you, who hate you. If there aren't any, you probably haven't achieved your goals. WADA and the UCI have invested a lot of money to make this sport clean, and I believe it is one of the cleanest in the world. Now it's not worth taking something that could have an impact on your health, your heart, to go faster until age 35. After 35 years, there is still a lot to live and do. That would be stupid. Cycling is a game, it's fun, it's amusing, we want to win, but that's not the most important thing. Pushing his body even further would be stupid."
