Thats wild and I have heard so many say it aswell it seems its basicly haters and people with nostalgia saying otherwice and im sure others too but the majority of legends ive seen on IG and in media and cyclist they all seem to say him now ? its crazy what time we are in. I sure listen more to Cadel than user 12312451 for instance.

And he is age 25,,,crazy time to be alive and follow cycling.

So concerning the olympics, I don't know as much about womens cycling as I would like, but I remember a lot of outrage about Zigart not making the olympic squad like a month ago because she would have been by far the best option. I saw some people at the time claiming her snub had more to do with politics than performance. In that case I really wouldn't blame Pogacar for snubbing the slovenian federation das for political reasons either. If he was using his power to get his unqualified fiance to race at the olympics, I would criticize him as well but that doesn't seem to be the case. Oh well, maybe it's actually all just fatigue and has nothing to do with Zigart.

In any case, I think it's a real shame he's missing the race. The opinions on this seem to be split but I think he would have had a really good chance. I think the route suits him better than last years WCRR and the shape of the only guys who beat him there are a big questionmark. After how incredible he looked in the Tour he would have been my favorite.

Oh come on. He is just miffed Urska was not selected and this is his retaliation.
I suspect it’s actually quite a complex issue with the head coach and Urska that most people don’t know about. There were some Slovenian journalists tweeting about a long history of issues with the head coach including him being verbally abusive to young girls as well as a lot of promotion of eating disorders and power plays with women.

I vaguely remember there were some problems at one of the previous world championship where Urska was told she would participate then told she couldn’t when she was already there? one of the Australian events?

On top of that she gave a pretty good break down of how his supposed selections were made and how they were incorrect. Like that they stopped counting UCI points before the end of the year and refused to accept that she is a domestique in some situations.

I think they already are, look at the lack of depth in the Giro this year. I think the likes of Carapaz/S.Yates/Mas/Rodriguez might have ridden the Giro if Pogi hadn't as they would smell the chance of winning the overall. But when Pogi announced they switched to the Tour
Yeah, I just think the Giro was a bit special this year because of all the injuries etc.

It would be kind of funny if he ended up only doing races where no other top 10 riders were participating. ;)

And you know that how?
I strongly suspect.
Yes. And you know what? I'd do the same. *** the morons who didn't select Urska.
He should definitely do something. Not riding at the Olympics might bring some attention but idk. I guess he knows best.
He doesn't need an excuse after winning two GTs. He's served the Pride of Nation beyond any duty. As it stands; Slovenians are the only folks that have a stake in this so my opinion doesn't count.
He does not. But it seems to be as a response to Urska's non selection. That is all I am saying.

I vaguely remember something like this as well.

The question is whether he should use his stature in Slovenian cycling to influence the selection process. By all metrics Urska is the best cyclist so there must be something deeper at play.

She said she asked him not to comment on it but he did anyway. It was an interesting interview she gave but I doubt she wants him to use his influence like this.

Horner is making the case for the Vuelta by pointing out that the season has been pitch perfect in ways of letting him keep freshness because the few competitors that could've made him really go all out didn't show up, or not strong enough. Also noone's gonna show up at the Vuelta who could beat him except for Roglic possibly. So Horner argues he can hardly hope for any better season than this one to ever present itself again.

I think he should have competed in Paris. Form of his life, possibly the highest level a rider has ever reached in modern cycling history just before an Olympics and with no guarantees for LA 2028 aged 29. I think he risks a career without an Olympic win which seems incomplete for him.

Lol. What mythical competitors are these? Literally everyone showed up across the two races

True aswell, as of the Tour line up, but in the other races? The Giro was a forgone conclusion and in Liege there was no one to challenge him, neither was there in Catalunya. You can make the point that no one is remotely close to him this year, so it doesn't matter. But than the point would stand, that he can't expect noone to be near him forever.

Just to be clear: I think doing the treble without really preparing is is probably a stupid idea.

If I am reading this right, he says Horner thinks pogi should to the vueta because everyone worth a salt pogi has destroyed already in previous GT's and the Vuelta 2024 is a dream opportunity for the GT treble.

He's saying he's destroyed them without having to go all out in his opinion, so he assumes that he'll never get the chance to do the attempt as fresh as this year again.

Does anyone know what the route will be for LA 2028? Will it be hilly? I don't know exactly what the geography of the region is but I just searched and it says there are "San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains" which sound promising. How about Brisbane 2032? I think he really screwed up in 2021. That route was perfect for him. This year he would have a chance but he probably wouldn't have won
