You're right about that. We would have had a real race then. Not some stupid bickering procession to let Kuss win. What a shitty Vuelta.Vingegaard wouldn't let that happen.

He didn't struggle to put time on them on Javalambre and Angliru, did he?OK, the guy who struggles to put time to enric mas and ajuso with his attacks was stronger than the guy who out 40s on everybody in tourmalet and 1 minute on everybody in Bejes. Lol.
The hierarchy in GT racing at the moment is very clearly Vingegard > Pogacar > Roglic > the rest ( Yates, Yates, Kuss, remco, ajuso etc). It has been like this for 18 months. Maybe it will change in 2024.
His first two Giri were the result of (the risk of) not being able to ride the Tour. 2015 is the better example.Contador was the best in the world in 2010 and 2011 he went to win an epic Giro, because he wanted to.

I might be misremembering, but it seems like there was a lot of pressure from his ridiculous sponsor, Olev Tinkoff, to try to win all 3 GTs in a year or maybe in a row after winning the 2014 Vuelta?Contador, however, won his first Giro in 2008, because his team was excluded from the Tour and then went in 2014 thinking a sanction could have prevented his presence at the French race. In 2015 it was a gamble against the Tour, by then dominated by Sky. The point is had Contador not had such issues, he likely would have gambled everything on increasing his Tour wins.
The pressure to win 3 GTs came before, with Riis at Saxo BankI might be misremembering, but it seems like there was a lot of pressure from his ridiculous sponsor, Olev Tinkoff, to try to win all 3 GTs in a year or maybe in a row after winning the 2014 Vuelta?
After beating Froome in that Vuelta and putting up prime numbers all year, in retrospect he absolutely should have targeted the Tour. Instead, he won that Giro 2023 Roglic style, battered and bruised and showing signs of weakness, in no way in optimal shape for the Tour. It’s actually kind of amazing he got fifth, especially the way that race played out.
Until they decided 200km is too longAlso Giro is beautiful but it's the indie film
Don't book those hotel rooms yet!2023 start in Spain, 2024 start in Portugal (according to the rumours) -

Although he may not have secured himself his main goal of a third Tour de France title in 2023, Tadej Pogacar had a very impressive season regardless. In 2024, there are rumours of a change in goals and reportedly the UAE Team Emirates leader will begin his campaign in Portugal.
According to the Portuguese outlet, A Bola, "a source close to UAE Team Emirates," has told them that the current Slovenian National Champion will begin his 2024 season at the Figueira Champions Classic (10th of February) and the Volta ao Algarve(from 14 to 18 February).
Just please no UAE Tour.Don't book those hotel rooms yet!

"This week it was reported that Tadej Pogacar will start the 2024 season in Portugal with the Figueira Champions Classic and the Volta ao Algarve. While this may still happen, Joxean Matxin dismisses the idea that it is set in stone.
In words given to Ciclismo Mundial, UAE Team Emirates manager Joxean Matxin stated that a decision hasn't yet been made on where the supertalent will start his next year when it comes to racing."

Can we pencil in Pogacar's return to Strade Bianchi (and along with a host of other Tour hopefuls)?
Pog will get a lot of Tour titles, but few years after... this debate is for another subform. 😅Pogacar will not win TdF again whole Jonas is present. Jonas has his number. Simple as that.
Like Bartali, he will come back to reclaim and win a few titles.Pog will get a lot of Tour titles, but few years after... this debate is for another subform. 😅
First Pogacar talks with WVA behind MVDP’s back and now has the audacity to talk with MVDP’s own teammate behind his back smh.Ahahahaha. Jasper Philipsen and Tadej Pogačar. Apparently TdF Singapore critérium tomorrow.

I mean, Tadej was Jaspers teammate first, how does this work? 🤔First Pogacar talks with WVA behind MVDP’s back and now has the audacity to talk with MVDP’s own teammate behind his back smh.
Same way it worked that Pogacar and WVA were conspiring against MVDP during the spring classics. Philipsen’s allegiances should be with MVDP now.I mean, Tadej was Jaspers teammate first, how does this work? 🤔
I do feel like I'm missing some context here. And I thought WVA and Pog were over after Pog made fun of him with Yates during tdf.Same way it worked that Pogacar and WVA were conspiring against MVDP during the spring classics. Philipsen’s allegiances should be with MVDP now.
But if you missed the origination of these posts, you’ll miss the meaning of mine.
The OG poster said it after the spring classics. Then it escalated after Pog and Philipsen joked around about WVA’s thing by said OG poster.I do feel like I'm missing some context here. And I thought WVA and Pog were over after Pog made fun of him with Yates during tdf.
