Today was only going to be a GC stage if the break was better controlled, due to bonus seconds up for offer. And it made no sense for uae to do all of the controlling. So what we got was a test of strength and not much more. Vingo stock up. Remco stock ip slightly. Roglic stock down. Everyone else hold serve. Pogi stock down slightly because the team is now in yellow

He actually looks a bit stunned and depressed. He'll be worried that Vingegaard could stay with him there. He really is his arch nemesis.
I don't think you can draw hard conclusions except that none of the guys that crashed in Basque were afraid of descending fast. Those roads were narrow and having more than 2 guys in a group wasn't an advantage. Pogacar provided the power and Jonas was aware enough to make it through that tight summit corner, then hold on to Tadej's wheel. Roglic was not paying attention or couldn't jump quickly enough. He's gotta be the one questioning his form.

Given how quickly everyone else was blown away by Pogacar's acceleration, I'm genuinely surprised that Vingegaard held his wheel. Very good signs for the fisherman.

Can't help but notice he once again waits until the easy part of the climb to attack.

I don't think Vingegaard was that easy, and it doesn't help when you attack where drafting makes 80W difference instead of 20W difference.

Yup, I noticed that too. Why not trying at least 100-200 meters earlier? Just moments after Pogacar attacked there was basically false flat. Still, he easily dropped the rest and Vingo showed to be really strong.

For media (translated from Slovenian):

Tadej Pogačar on his attack: "I attacked a little at the top of the last climb. A little to test myself, not only to test others. Vingegaard was directly behind my bike. Jonas participated, but not as much as I would have liked. But there is progress , because at least he participated, It looks like he's in great shape, it's fine, it's interesting. I'd rather go alone."

And on yellow jersey: "I was thinking about whether it's a good idea to take the yellow jersey or not. Of course, you can't just give it up and I'm happy to have it."

Yeah Pogacar always attacking at the worst possible point is quite striking, but I really don't think that's overconfidence but the opposite. I don't think he felt that great today and didn't dare to show his cards at a point where someone with incredible legs might be able to counter him. Who knows what happens if the climb is paced differently and Pogacar attacks a bit earlier, but Vingegaard honestly looked comfortable enough that I doubt he would have been dropped anyway.

What he mean with "but there is progress"?

So why didn't he do that, must be a reason. In Giro Dell'Emilia he attacked on the steep part but couldn't really shake everyone and had to sit up on the flatter part. Think he thought he could get seperation today and could follow his attack all the way to the top and then continue over the top, thinking his higher watts on flatter part will make it hard for Vinge to come back.

Now all that remains is to push hard on the Galibier (team included this time) and give everything. In the worst case scenario, he will arrive with Jonas at the finish line, putting a minute on the rest of the field. s
For at least a week there will be no mountains and they will be able to study some strategies if needed
