I think he is super strong and I don't think he burned more matches than the rest today since the terrain suits pretty well. But I also just can't helpe but feel this is going to be a repeat of 2022. Incredibly impressive, having a little lead over Vingegaard, but all of that is happening a week before it's really starting to count. Yeah he can put Vingegaard on the limit on gravel, nice. But the question becomes more and more, can he hold Vingegaards wheel when he attacks in the pyrenees and the alps and the way Vingegaard is looking I'm finding that more and more doubtful. Hell even if Vingegaard cannot drop him once, I'm not certain his current gap is enough for the TT after stage 16 last year.

It is not going to be a repeat because Visma is weak in the mountains and UAE is a lot stronger. I am not saying Vingegaard will not win the Tour, I am just saying a scenario like Visma had on Galibier-Granon won't repeat.

Tadej Pogačar: “Yes, I think Vingegaard is afraid of me, otherwise he would have taken over.” “I will remember this”
Of course he was afraid of losing time today. There was a big chance of that.

So now that Pogi remembers this, he likely won't take any turns when Vingegaard attacks him in the mountains, which he wouldn't have done anyway.

Odds slashed on Pogacar hes fine. Love to see the racing from both him and Evenpoel thats why most watch cycling. Dont think he used more than others today he is just to strong. But regardless today showed more why most watch cycling and not, not very selective at the end and wasnt the terrain for it but the story and showing was quite telling.
W Evenpoel and Pogacar, panache and hearth we love to see it more please.

Also the team did good jumbo and ineos had more numbers on paper on a stage like this for me.

If Pogacar is good enough not to be dropped by Vingegaard (and potentially win some bonus seconds) I don't think he's gonna lose it (to Vingegaard) in the TT.

Given that we often talk about the third week (who goes up, who goes down) there is a point that is rarely talked about. Every time Jonas has overtaken Pogacar, it is after having cooked him with high speeds uphill. (with Van Aert at Hautacam the highest point). Compared to the uncertainties about the condition of both, this factor will certainly be missing for Jonas this year.

3 week thing is way overrated i think and mostly based on Pogacar riding with a fractured wrist and having no prep. it just seems way overblowned by some and lack of context if you ask me taking that into account.

Odds also agree got slashed after the stage:sweatsmile: Ngl kinda hate what happened today would love for Vingegaard to win but now i kinda want everyone else to win ngl hope it changes the next day.

He is getting nervous. Just rest tomorrow and ride conservetly if Jonas wants to win, he needs to drop Pogacar. Last year, Vingegaard did an all time career performance. Not a chance it will happen again.
This train of thought is how Remco lost Vuelta. Race is far from over, Pogacar is due for a bad day or average day. Lots of variables still in play, the biggest advantage teams have is if UAE thinks it's already over and they are on the bus having arguments about what Ayuso or Joao are going to do to podium.
