The question was who could win the tour AND wc rr + itt in the last 30 years. It was indeed indurain. He came very close to it.

Armstrong too but he didn’t emphasize it on his schedule. Bruyneel rules of the tour and nothing else thwarted any serious effort
Lemond could do it too. In the specialization era, no one and here you are right. So it's difficult too to win Tour+double WC
Ullrich had the qualities too. I’d have to look at his race results

Ullrich very well could've done it in 1999.

Won the Vuelta, won the WC ITT and could've won the Road Race but during the Vuelta Telekom had made a deal with Vandebrouke that he would help Ullrich in the last week while Ullrich would return the favor at the WC RR.
So Ullrich was part of the finishing top 10 group and probably was the strongest as well because he closed down all the attacks for Vandebrouke but Vandebrouke had crashed and broken his wrist in the race and therefore couldn't finish it off.

I agree with @Peyroteo94 that the WC double is not thaaat special in terms of effort, you mainly need the right combination of parcours. WVA got close in 2020, Remco got 1st and 3rd in 2022 and if you add Olympics (similar scenario) Remco won the double just this year, Cancellara got 1st and 2nd in 2008, Ullrich got 1st and 2nd in 2000 (would've gotten the double if not for the wind).
Having said that, very hilly WC ITTs don't come along very often so maybe Pogacar should grasp the opportunity because I don't see him winning on purely flat courses like they had a lot in recent years.

Next year Pogacar will have a great chance to do it just because we will have a hilly TT and that's not usual in worlds.

Nice route, well balanced but when it comes to grand tours its all about who is the strongest no matter the route. Now the big question & concern going into the the tour would be how will the whining be from the peleton regarding pogs ruthlessness chasing every stage he wants? I hope the breakaway climbers are going to the giro so we wont hear too much noise in the tour

Every route is tailormade for Pogacar. He excels in many fields and terrains so this Tour is just a question of being the best climber again. He can grab some seconds in the first week. I can definetely see him gaining 30 seconds to Vingegaard before Hautacam.

Merckx's record is in danger. He can win 8 stages if Jonas doesn't show his usual July shape
lol as if he can do much about how many stages pogacar gonne win. We saw that this year not much and the one he won while great was mostly duo to pogacar getting low on sugar more than anything else.

IF Pog is 24 level, Pogiboy is the one deciding basically how many stages he ends up winning along with UAE. Vnigegaard has 4 stage wins his entire career, your fascination is just not properly based on the definition of true levels here at all, just emotions.

hahah you say so many wild things i genuinly start to wonder. If its gonne be hard for him I genuinly wonder what you expect for the others?

Theres not a man alive today who is close to his climbing abilities, nor has there ever been any with his numbers climbing uphill ever - so the more mountains the better is a pretty easy logic no? just facepalm:tongueclosed:
What, now you're berating one of the biggest Pogacar fans in here for not worshipping him hard enough? Your tone and hyperbole are getting kind of annoying tbh.

Is that right? 4 stage wins in the tdf ever?
