Yes, being simply first on Poggio may not be enough if guys just behind descend better. He would need a proper selection and monster work by UAE (without being blocked at the start of Cipressa or Poggio). We will see. There's also an option that he will attack from a small group in the last 1-2 km and hope for a moment of hesitation.

Full UAE setup on Poggio just doesn't work. He's in 2nd wheel eating more wind than the rest, and the first attack last year dropped nobody. Then he managed to get MvdP out of position and he closed it down anyway despite being on his first race day for the season.

Yup, and San Remo is a race where you may have a plan... but it is hard to execute. Every other team will want to ride to stop UAE and Pog, just like last year going into Cipressa.

Then you have a rider like MVDP, who might mark Pog to not let him go solo. Just like last year.

Ganna looks good at the moment as well.

And there is always a chance for an outsider in this race.

MSR is a race of sheer power for Pogacar. If he can drop everybody he wins, if not, he loses.

Im late to the party but that was a beatiful race. Pog still looks like he is 3x better than everyone else.

Did some agriculture stuff he didnt seem to particular enjoy and went on the bike and finished the fastest Strade yet. Awesome racing from all top 5 contestants. Grinta. Pure ciclismo.

Also on a general basis UAE seems to have increased the gap across the board (besides TT equipment) which if your everyone else is a frightening sign.

He is training hard and nothing is hampering right now. Those bruises in SB were nothing, he will be in his best shape! Eating a piece of bread at 300 watts. These guys are so far away from us (recreational cyclists), it's impressive!

Not so sure about that as most of the improvements in UAE have come from Christen/Morgado/Ayuso who are all at an age and experience level where it is reasonable to expect a significant amount of development in them.
