Thinking about this. Would he actually stop racing MSR and what on the schedule might inspire this omission? Brother @mou says it is a cicaban race. I don't see Pogi not riding SB every year so there is no real reason not to ride MSR aside from race days.

He will try until he wins it. I would like to see Pompeiana instead of Cipressa at least one time. And Manie would be good too.

I don’t think so. If he wins it one time, he’ll probably want more cause he tasted the victory already. Don’t think going to MSR would compromise those races you mentioned if he wants to win them anyway.

He is chasing Merckx. I don't think he will reach Merckx but double digits monuments is very possible.

It's just a wild guess but if he wins MSR this year (and then wins the Tour easily), I see him giving a shot of the GT triple.

If he can win MSR then it is highly probable that he reaches double digits in monument wins before the end of 2025.

No he won't. MSR:
1) is a monument
2) it doesn't collide with anything in the schedule
3) is relatively easy in terms of attrition
Teddy will ride it till the end of his career.

A lot can happen in bike racing. MVP should be rated above Pog right now regarding MSR but it can change. With enough number of tries (Pogacar will easily reach double digit number of tries) the total probability of winning isn't that small.

That's not what happened, you are rewriting history.

Pogacar was taking the lead in the descent. He's a worse descender than some others in the peloton which resulted in Pidcock coming back, and eventually also Pedersen and Mohoric. Others were very close behind and joined right after Mohoric attacks. That's when MVDP closed that gap to help Philipsen.

Yup, he was just marking him and controlling the group. He was riding for Philipsen. Evident on the flat as well.

It was a very good performance from MVDP to do that.

Yes, being simply first on Poggio may not be enough if guys just behind descend better. He would need a proper selection and monster work by UAE (without being blocked at the start of Cipressa or Poggio). We will see. There's also an option that he will attack from a small group in the last 1-2 km and hope for a moment of hesitation.
