Last year it was already a bit ridiculous that some fans insisted on a joint leadership between Pogacar and Roglicin the preview of Zurich WC.
Pogacar is one of the few Slovenians who has gone to the World Championships year after year. Rogic and Mohoric have been absent many times.
Furthermore, in 2020, despite being a Tour de France winner, he made himself available to Roglic.
When you have the best in the world, who is also the one who has committed the most to going every year, the least you can do is work for him.
They already behaved badly at the Olympics by not choosing Urska for another cyclist because she was a rider on the national team coach's team. It's an obvious conflict of interest that the national women's coach was the team manager of the woman they took instead of Urska.
It still seems incredible to me that Slovenia made such a blunder last year.
If someone told me that cyclist was one of the best in the world, but she wasn't even better than Urska at anything, and in the time trial she finished second to last, just ahead of Barbados.
Can anyone imagine VDP not going to the Olympics in Holland because of things like this?

There is a reason Slovenia is much better at mens cycling than womens, although I think Urska is putting a serious effort into changing that. The women's coach was supposed to step down this year but I am not sure if that happened.
The Wiggins/Froome dynamic was similar in the UK of the ridership who was plotting a course for several years ending up overtaken by the younger rider less heralded who people had not emotionally invested in.
The difference was that Wiggins was first to win a Grand Tour on the road (2011 Vuelta only awarded a decade later).

When was the last time we had a course for real climbers? Insbruck.
Since then, we had 4 or 5 routes perfect for a guy like MVP. I don't see much variety to be honest.

Its a shame that we never got to see the Aigle-Martigny Worlds which would have been a real climbers course. Imola was a decent replacement, the hardest course since Innsbrück but the climbs were still for punchers. At least Sallanches should be a climbers course and I hope the Montreal course will be as hard as Zürich.

I don't think a course filled with punchy 1km climbs should be classified as a climbers course, even though its still climbing heavy which is what attracts someone like Vingegaard (I still doubt he will go though).

Yes, there are question marks over Vingegaard in 6 hour+ races. If he's in good form after Vuelta I would still pick him as a serious podium contender (likely for the 2nd place).

Not true. He's not just aerobic monster but has decent explosivity for his size. He was competitive against MVP & Pog on much easier courses at the beginning of the Tour/Dauphine (no stage racing effect yet). Vingo is a top3 material in races like Liege/Lombardy/Fleche. He needs to be in very good form though, he's not as natural one-day racer as Pog & MVP.
Good explosively for climber you’re right.
Think it would have to be more of a climbers course that there’s ever been for him to stand a chance at a worlds though

His only possible weakness is the distance of 250 km+. He's likely not as potent in glicogene reserves as Pogacar or MVP. Climber's friendly course (and his w/kg superiority) should partially compensate for this possible weakness as everyone else (except Pogacar) will be more on their limit during climbs.
I’m looking now, the hill also has cobbles ? Doesn’t look ideal for Vingo. Looks like a fun course though

Maybe Slovenia will not be so bad as a team. Pogacar, Roglic, Novak, Govekar, Omrzel and maybe Mezgec is ok. It will be really hard for Novak but if Govekar and Mezgec can help him at the begining that should be ok. With Tratnik and Mohoric that would be strong team bit they are not going.
His best bet would be to apply his usual tactics and attempt to superglue himself to Pogi wheel at all times and help to turn it into a 1v1 by lifting the pace on Mont Kigali.
