Surely you mean 20 watts less? Unless they are trying to level the playing field by adding extra resistance/decreasing motor wattage.

The way it's worded it sounds like he will have to push more watts in order to reach 50 km/h
I guess you know what I mean. There will be 20 watts les power needed to compensate for the drag at 50 km/h so Pogi can save 20 watts of his max power output or use it to go faster. It has approximately the same effect as doing 20 watts extra on his old bike. In practice the impact is evdn a bit bigger because the impact becomes bigger as the speed increases.

It was said that he didn't know how to train, and that now he does.
Now we also know that until now his bike was sh*t, and that he will finally get a real one.
I'm waiting for someone to tell us that he didn't know his shoe size and had to ride all these years in shoes that didn't fit.
Unless they're saving the shoe thing for 2026...

Well, who knows! When he started racing as a kid, he didn't know that he had to cross the finish line first to win.

Something is wrong. Vingo shouldn't be the dumb one?
Scriptwriters blurring the lines... I find it hard to follow.
Yeah, once the whole show becomes a scripted farce, it has to be enjoyed in a way different from what traditional cycling fans are used to. Like that fellow from Guardian wrote right after WCRR, it becomes a version of WWE: still fun, but a different kind of fun.

Indeed, and the cover-up activity of the system does not stop even in off-season. Witness, for instance, a recent article on Cycling news about the discovering "truth" (just like that, in quotes) on motor doping. The implication must be that the real truth is doomed to remain hidden forever, or, possibly, in a true postmodernist fashion, simply does not exist. In the article itself, the most suspicious period with regard to motor doping is stated to be 2010-14 (yeah, right, 2020-present is obviously totally innocent in that regard, look how much slower it is :) ). Also, just today, an article on race bike shapes, using Colnago (who could have thought!) as an example. The main thesis there is the good old function before form: race bike designers, in relentless pursuit of speed, should -- and will -- completely abandon any esthetic considerations. So, folks, get ready to Tuddly's bikes looking -- and riding -- more and more like small ugly motorcycles and him becoming faster and arriving fresher. (A related small observation: in the most recent Colnago, the seat tube hugs the rear wheel even more, additionally pointing to the distributed nature of the motor used there.)
You should really factor the issue and your speculation in the subject.
If you have been to major races almost always there are hotel affiliates. Teams and support staff all stay at a few hotels. So team cars, buses, vans, everyone is in close proximity. Fans and press very very close to equipment and staff. Neutral support. Teams often from different circles, so pro conti squads in the paddock bullpen w world tour teams. Majority of teams are running Shimano and Sram. Shimano relying on battery in a tube cavity of the bicycle. Many races involve crashes, bike repair, replacement or riders abandon. So play out the widespread, epidemic style motor doping as people are trying to sell. No motor found on crashed bikes, mechanics are able to either secretly fit motor doping devices in bicycles, not wheels. Bike inspections are somehow done and satisfactory without detection. Mechanics allegedly spring into action fit the bicycle and I am guessing a wireless device would be necessary, because if motor control device is on the handlebars or other available real estate on the bike nobody sees it.. On any bikes.. Don't see mechanics frantically rewrapping bar tape to disguise motor control switches..
All that, who gets it? Best riders? Riders on edge of getting dropped frequently? Riders who are sick or injured or need rest?
I don't doubt that motor doping exists, my absolute dismissal is that it's widespread. Nobody is finding it before, during or after races, not discovered by neutral support, not discovered by inspection of crashed bikes, teams are not catching each other or team members with a conscious are keeping the secret for themselves and other teams..
All just sounds silly as a widespread problem.
I really question how a rider or bike qualify for motor doping.. Are doped bikes switched out? When? By who? People are fast and loose with the physical and logistics involved with widespread motor doping..but Bigfoot has been seen in multiple countries, guessing he takes trains, planes or ships to switch locations but nobody sees Bigfoot at the airport or train station.. Cruise ship terminal..
I think Cycling News is irresponsible for furthering unfounded conspiracy theories and as with most media, the salacious stories get most clicks.. Bike racing has enough problems without invention of a ghost story..

OK, now try doping.

If motor doping in the pro-peloton is real, it's not widespread and it's obviously used by the best riders (who win races). It would be integrated in a way that it is not visible, neither for IR and (probably) X-ray scanners. Everybody can be in close proximity, nobody sees it. The motor and battery will be very light weight and probably only deliver a few tens watt for about 30 min at higher spreed. Activation may be wireless but it could also be preprogrammed before the race. The fact is that the technology exist, the UCI knows about it and the press seems to pick it up as well. So this is no conspiracy but a genuine, major risk for the sport that should get attention, even if there is no case yet in the pro-peloton.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What?

You'd have to keep all fiddling with motors hidden (obviously). You could do this by locking the door to a van, or closing off a tent, having someone at the entrance.

Neutral support don't do much? They (attempt to) change tyres once in a while? That's not a major issue.

Don't see the problem.

Yeah, there's a lot of space in bikes, it seems. Also: What's your point?
Many races involve crashes, bike repair, replacement or riders abandon.
Uh, huh... What're you trying to say?
No motor found on crashed bikes, mechanics are able to either secretly fit motor doping devices in bicycles, not wheels.
What happens to crashed bikes? Do the UCI take them? Race organizers? I would've guessed the teams took them...
Bike inspections are somehow done and satisfactory without detection
Yep. They don't disassemble the bikes. So they don't detect anything. I don't find the inspections "satisfactory".
Mechanics allegedly spring into action fit the bicycle and I am guessing a wireless device would be necessary
Why wouldn't mechanics spring into action? Team doctors have... Has any position on a cycling team not had a colleague busted for participating in cheating?
All that, who gets it? Best riders?
Of course. Minimize risk, maximize gain.
, teams are not catching each other or team members with a conscious are keeping the secret for themselves and other teams..
They sure have a habit of doing this, don't they?
Are doped bikes switched out? When? By who?
I'm not sure that's always necessary, but I also don't see why they couldn't or wouldn't do that. After the race? By team staff? What else...
People are fast and loose with the physical and logistics involved with widespread motor doping..
You're fast and loose with your proposed issues with the logistics involved. You wrote no actual arguments... All innuendo.
I think Cycling News is irresponsible for furthering unfounded conspiracy theories and as with most media, the salacious stories get most clicks.. Bike racing has enough problems without invention of a ghost story..
I think CN is being responsible by covering founded "conspiracy" suspicions.

Apropos of "ghost stories," have you even listened to Ghost in the Machine? It's a bit rich saying that something is unfounded if you haven't sought out the good reason there are to suspicious.

I've listened to every episode although I must admit I got bored. We are all guilty of believing what we want. Ghost in the machine stokes those opinions. If you have anything specific in those videos, please spell it out.
