eddie era, very interesting.there are arguments to be made.first, cycling was huge back than.very little cars.sure cycling wasnot global sport, but back than whole urban europe was on bike.anyone who knows that generation, knows riding abike was joke in comparison to hard labour thye did otherwise.this is somewhat true even for pros from that era.athletic ability, this i very speculative and controversial, its either plumbers or they were athletic monsters ancestrors coming from decades of very hard labour.doping, another controversial point.general idea is not much help.well, could be true, but we know drugs from pre ww2 era were huge on endurance and being able to stay awake.there are rumblings eddie was big on that and they mastered aplication to avoid burn out, unlike nazis in france or russia, lol.now eddie was accused of more than just doping and im sure they bough many small races to pum up palmares.eddie didnot go that deep in wins, just beacuse he could.guys like eddie or roger were rutless, even guy like armstrong is marshmellow in comp to them.just listen to them today and see difference.for eddie and roger its never finished, lmaoo.

People that do specific types of hard labour, especially that of decades and decades ago, are not necessarily that 'healthy', especially when it comes to overall fitness and physiology.

Which pre ww2 era drugs do you mean?

Alcohol, amphetamine, cocaïne, heroin, morphine? Pre ww1 heroin was just for sale legally.

At the 1954 FIFA World Cup, the Germans used Pervitin, although I think there were much worse things going on behind the scenes than doping. The Hungarian team was far superior, even if they had played with one man less, they would still have crushed the Germans... but I don't want to get into geopolitical topics here...

At the 1966 FIFA World Cup, three German football players failed anti-doping tests for ephedrine. This was the first World Cup where anti-doping tests were done, most likely athletes had been using it for quite a long time back then. Since they easily covered up the failed doping tests and no one made a big deal out of it, it's more than likely that many countries used it.

In his autobiography, Beckenbauer admitted that blood doping was already widely used at that time. However, he played the useful idiot and denied that it was doping, claiming that he had never heard the word "doping" during his career lmao

Is this @Taxus4a? Froome was always a "diamond in the rough"?

Froomedog cleverly changed his nationality to match that of the presidents of the UCI and WADA at the time

Immigrant parents makes one a fake Irishman? Or does it take the wrong faith as well?
In Northern Ireland, if you are protestant, you are british, and if you are Catholic, you are Irish. It's that simple. So his mother is british. As Fat Pat's life shows, he is british, not Irish. A true Irishman would not have raced in South Africa in the 1970s. By the way, he did this disguised as a brit, and as I've already mentioned, after being banned, he continued to race under british flag.

If his mother was an Indian sikh, would he also have been a fake Irishman then?
