and what they should have done? End the race on a Monday or Tuesday?

So you want the last major climb to be 6 days before the finish?? Becasue the stage into Paris is going to be on a Saturday or at worst a Sunday.

No, they could always do what they did last year and have the final climb on the Saturday. I don't like the ITT as the thing that decides the tour, I'd much rather see that earlier in the tour and the mountains decide who wins the race.

Well, those were some of the best opening hours of a race you will ever see.

Now the boring-ness will creep in until Aubisque probably. Lotto still riding, so I think VDB2 will at least give it a go.

On another note. How funny is it that three riders from Omega-Lotto are in the MJ group and there is 0 from BMC.

I would say that is plenty ironic. But don't say that more than 3 times or you will cause ACF94 to appear! :p

Ah, finally found the stage thread between all the outrage about "what Jesus would do".

And you can shallow fry me for this later, but I actually wish Lance good luck with a genuine effort to go out in style. I'd rather see him do this than give up without a fight.

That would obviously be the difference between Samu, Rodriguez, and other guys who are probably weaker but in front today.

I actually expect them not to get dropped later on.

I dont get it.

You think the guys who struggled on the cat 1 will find it easier on the hc?

So will Armstrong do any work or just sit on?

EDIT: Have to say this team GC battle just seems silly. I know it is meaningful to the two teams duking it out, but it really does seem silly.

The silliness is the hype we are forcefed by a certain channel.

Cunego getting a nice madison-style slingshot from the team car there...

Looks like the GC boys have shut it down for the day, which is a damn shame. I was hoping the madness would continue all the way up the Tourmalet. Still, at least we get to watch Cunego drop Old Man Armstrong.

I think that is largely a shared sentiment. I was actually quite disappointed that he seemed to pack in, but hadn't left. I hope all those days of sandbagging have him fresh.

Some guys need some time to settle into a race. I guess the thinking is that they weren't capable of giving max effort in the first 2 hours, but now the diesel engines are roaring.
