Maybe they do it more than others, and there is more evidence against them.

Either that or it is the lizards.

They have not won much for a team that "Maybe they do it more than others"....if we remember Festina, when Voet was caught, well it was just Festina team and no others.............people still believe when Armstrong retired in 2005 doping left with him.

Maybe they are clean.

Another cool trick from the Seppelt story, swapped samples.

We know, for sure, the process has numerous opportunities to be corrupted and certainly have some new, very creative, examples.

To be perfectly clear, I have no clue why all there is a huge effort to demote or fire Astana. Just that the UCI has a long history of corruption related to managing the sport.

Maybe this will finally be the nail in the coffin for Vino and he'll get outed from his position at Astana.

I'm not sure if I should feel bad for Nibali or not.

LOL: and you're going to love Cookson's latest

"I have always held the view that doping was not a practice solely restricted to the sport of cycling. In my view there are two groups of sports: There are those that have a doping problem and are actively trying to do something about it and I would like to say that we are in a leading position on that.

"And there are those sports that have a doping problem and are still pretty much in denial about it. And sooner or later they are going to have their problems."

:D

Really the title of this thread should be changed...

Really, do we think Astana are any different than the rest of WT teams?

Where and when did the sport change it's culture?

Astana are run by Vino and Martinelli, who do and have done things in the time old fashioned manner of cycling teams, train hard, dope hard(as you can) and race hard.

This is the manner all WT teams live by. If they dont, they dont win or compete.

Changed to "Vino's shameful legacy". Because it's all about Vino. Look at Riis: the guy is smart, flies under the radar. Vino is the contrary: if you're shaddy, stay out of the light

Vino is the perfect target, the perfect guy to be made an example of: everybody hates him, or just about. He's a non-repentant doper, a briber, and he really stuck it to everybody by winning the Olympic Gold and taking his bows, riding in the sunset.

He's going down.

Vino seems quite popular in the peloton and amongst many of the journos.

I dont see what Astana are doing that is different to any world team!!! It is not like USPS where they won 7 TdFs in a row. Astana have 4 GTs (not bad) and a sackful of other wins but would they be happy with that haul considering how much they paid Ferrari? I doubt it.

Vino is the target. No doubt Martinelli reappears with a new team and the circus continues.

One thing I'am wondering..

Could it be possible that taking the licence on the basis prior to recent revelations is a bad idea.. Not sure I'am correct on process.
But IF they take the licence and Astana goes to CAS then final decision is based on merely what happened up to now (ie the five positives)? And if precedence with Katusha is upheld wouldn't it mean that the UCI would have to start all over again, with the new information? As much as I would like to see them take the licence, maybe it would be better to wait and include the Padua case?

Edit: I'am sort of asking if that they take the licence, can they include recent findings if they go to CAS??

What a joke this sport can be! The clean riders of the peleton need to get together and push these cheats out enough is enough.

At this point, if I'm UCI license commission, I drop Astana to Pro-Conti. This would very likely get overturned in CAS, but you gotta try.
