Or what is it exactly that his early exit signifies? And more to the point, what about all these riders who also apparently pulled out over night through the course of the race?

DNS Davide Malacarne (Fra) Europcar
DNS Christopher Horner (USA) Lampre-Merida
DNS Jens Mouris (Ned) Orica Greenedge
DNS Jesse Sergent (NZl) Trek Factory Racing
DNS Cadel Evans (Aus) BMC Racing Team
DNS Moreno Moser (Ita) Cannondale
DNS André Greipel (Ger) Lotto Belisol
DNS Jens Debusschere (Bel) Lotto Belisol
DNS Marcel Sieberg (Ger) Lotto Belisol
DNS Paul Voss (Ger) Team NetApp - Endura
DNS Ian Stannard (GBr) Team Sky

THREE Lotto Belisol riders pulled out....OMG!....must be doping, this is fishy....three riders on the SAME TEAM withdraw...its doping i tell you!!!!

(see how ridiculous it sounds when the ramblings are applied to another team)

With regard to Porte pulling out, has nobody on this forum ever woken up with a cold?...never woken up feeling rough and gone to the bathroom to find you have an upset stomach?.....never woken up with a bad back, stiff neck etc etc?....forum of superhumans it would seem.

Dear Wiggo

Making a compound that wont show up in current testing regimes is difficult....

Not for a chemist.

ScienceisCool theorised there's a new drug in use and that's what's causing the jettison of riders from races and Sky's current malarky.

Your argument to this was Sky couldn't afford to make the drug.

My response is this: making drugs is not that difficult for a chemist - The Clear being a quick example. Sky do not have to make the drug, just as Marion Jones and her team did not make the drug.

Sky's riders just have to use it. It has nothing to do with Sky's budget or finances whatsoever. Neither, do I think, was it administered by the team. Riders are acting as individuals, imo.

Brailsford just has to handle the fallout, as he did with Hayles back in 2008.

Yes, let's get David Walsh to provide his view on the proceedings. I'm sure it will be just as impartial as his previous work

What are the Twitter updates from Daveyboy?

David Walsh ‏@DavidWalshST

Sky knew when they took action against Henao they'd be hammered, so why do it? Perhaps because they didn't want another JTL a year from now.

David Walsh ‏@DavidWalshST

An obvious question: how many WorldTour teams would see a slightly suspicious bio result as a reason for withdrawing rider from competition?

Walsh is like a schoolgirl in love. Cant find any faults even if its obvious to everyone else.

Since Sky are investigating Henao for anomalies can they also do all the other Colombians since they have become the de facto anti doping researchers in that part of the world.

I think all the other teams will want to investigate their own riders in the future too.

Tyler Hamilton woke up with a broken collar bone but kept racing.

Well what Walsh provides here is commentary.

Seeing as he has access beyond anyone else the expectation would be that a) he already knew b) able to decipher the press release into real life terms and c) ask questions.

Regardless. That press release. Did it mean or actually say anything? Is Brailsford going for a job in politics? The art of saying nothing at all.

Yes, Prime Minister!

After reading more sources it seems that :

1. after JTL case Brailsford stepped up the internal police
2. this is a result of Sky own anti doping efforts and testing
3. it become public because somebody leaked it. UCI and WADA have no say in this.

Would Tinkoff like to follow in their steps ? Or all the other WT teams?

my favourite part of the Brailsford spin is the "We need to look into this, and understand what is going on" like sky dont spend months every year at altitude:rolleyes:

Good that you got back just in time to orchestrate the alternative dot joining proceedings.
Enjoy the long posting session ahead.

It's actually a fair question in response to what you posted.

If we're only getting 'half truths' what is the other half? Lies, guesswork or known unknowns?

Id like go know. The story we have from Sky at the moment patchey, would you agree? And it's a theme which appears to repeat itself whenever the D word comes up.

What are your thoughts?

So Sky see something in Henao's results. Highlight these to the UCI. Withdraw the rider from competition until the issue is resolved.

Where's the stick to beat them with here?

The stick is that another rider on the team was found to have suspicious values.

Not good for the cleanest team in the cleanest peloton ever.

It requires an explanation. But all we will get is Walsh spin, and then Henao will go away until everyone has forgotten about him, like JTL.

Are you deliberately obfuscating things or is it you just can't help yourself?

1. There is no proof or indication that is indeed the case. It is mere speculation on your part.

2. This entirely unclear from Sky's stament. From the statement it seems more likely than not that it was an official OOC testing that rang the alarm bells on Henao at Sky.

In our latest monthly review, our experts had questions about Sergio’s out-of-competition control tests at altitude - tests introduced this winter by the anti-doping authorities. We need to understand these readings better.

It seems Sky with the full cooperation of its' riders and access to these test results (also in the statement).

3. We know who the somebody is. It was Henao's agent who leaked it to Gazetta dello Sport in Italy. UCI and WADA in principle never issue official statements if they have any suspicions or a case pending. After the leak Sky went in full damage control mode. I wonder why? ;)

1. countless statements pointing at a higher internal police after jtl
2. "introduced by" <> "executed by". there are many entities that can carry testing
3. there was nothing on Gazzeta, it only appeared long after Sky release. Also Gazzeta is a tabloid who would say anything, what they say has no weight.

the only obscation and making up of thing is in your "After the leak Sky went in full damage control mode. I wonder why? ;)".

there is nothing to damage control as there is nothing to harm their reputation, in fact is just the opposite.

Hang on.

A team highlighting something that the UCI may have missed and benching the rider until it's investigated further ISN'T a good thing?

Yeah, you don't believe he might be ill. But given that what do you think did cause him to pull out? Honestly I'm struggling to come up with a coherent reason why you'd pull out in those circumstances for reasons other than illness or injury.

I'm not saying you wouldn't, I'd just like to hear some plausible ideas as to why you would!

How do you know that is the case? And where did I say any of that?

Just by sheer coincidence it happens to be that their best two GT riders pull out and do not start TA. Yet Wiggins who is racing like the true donkey he is remains in the race.

Who said; never believe in coincidences? There's a reason for everything.

Its certainly an odd sequence of events. Especially for Porte who looked fine the day before attacking for the win.

Then again maybe it's nothing. All just a random sequence of events that resulted in every single GT contender in one team to withdraw from racing

Yes, but there is a difference between Europeans spending time at altitude, and people born at altitude. Like, there bodies are different, and work differently. Don't you think?

You would think cycling genius and tactical mastermind Brailsford could work that one out by himself.

Or maybe he just recently found out that Henao is colombian?
