I think he is determined to not be pigeonholed as a hater like Kimmage. After Armstrong, he will pimp Sky so he is not seen as anti-cycling.

If that was the case how comes he was climbing with Nibali in Trentino and how comes Froome is blowing everyone away on every climb?

I think its best not to make any specific claims about what sky are taking and when because one just doesn't know. There are a million and one ways people can dope or cheat.

Can't disagree with a word of that. Whatever they are up to, rest assured, practically nobody here knows.

He really seems to have jumped aboard more as a fan than a nuetral observer and journalist.

Id say a combination of who he works for and possibly also not wanting to start another crusade has lead him to his position on SKY. I dont think if he was seeing something really fishy at SKY he would ignore it mind you. After reading his book it would be the biggest sell out of all time if he did cover things up

If it starts raining for the other contenders, will bailsford claim they used marginal gains to predict the weather and then decided wiggins would lose time, or that they used marginal gains to control the weather once they found out wiggins had lost time?

The test will be in July...thought the test that is going on now does not appear to counter my thesis

Just been walking round the finish area, a lot of Team Sky disappointment and sympathy for Wiggins who is utterly exhausted.

Wiggins did not perform badly, but he expected to gain decent time on Nibali which is not going to happen.

Do you ride a bike ? Have you crashed on a wet descent ?

Raced on what used to be called Div 3 team. In the end I wasn't that good, but bike racing was my life for 11 years.

To answer your question, no I don't think I have but I have crashed in the wet plenty of times, don't recall turning into a complete girl's blouse though.

But not my point, which was not how you react when you do crash, but to practice one's descending so that you don't crash in the first place.

Hmmm. A while back I started a thread about "smart dopers," dopers who might be smart enough to strategically dope for a big money win then quit or dial their program back to greatly minimize risk. Wiggins might be smarter than he looks.

Yours is the consensus view of the guys I was riding with today. Stick your head up too high for too long and sooner or later it will get chopped off. But what doesn't make sense is why the dialing back was timed for Sir Brad's major goal for 2013. I've always suspected the (doping) radar was set a little higher in Italy than France.

I'm also now starting to wonder which Froome (or Porte) will we see in the TDF.

By the way, anybody heard what's happened to Mick Rogers? Seems to have fallen off the planet since leaving Sky? Just adds to my suspicion of them. Yet another similarity to USPS is the lower performance of riders when they leave the team.

you might want to check to see who won the time trial today.

While you're at it, do you think Sky also intentionally planned the flat tire he had today?

You might want to check who was more likely to be on a program at sky, Dowsett or Rogers

keep on making those great theories - only guys doping were ones going slower. When Rogers has a decent ToC another explanation will come out. Sky are only doping for early season 'training' races, not the grand tours. Wiggins crashed yesterday on purpose. Got a flat so he wouldn't win today. Guess he heard they were doing controls on the winner. Lying low. It's just a grand tour. He'll kill it in the British TT nationals.

cool story Joachim

He's got a point. There is so much against Wiggins, esp the amazing transformations of his performance and of his opinions.

But this rogers crap is weak. Very weak. No one has any idea if he is on a doping programme at saxo or not. And everytime people try and rely on it it delegitimizes the very real arguments against sky.

Dowsett winning is more problematic for the sky fans. This is the guy who at the beginning of the season said, whether it was his actual opinion or a favour to bailsford, that movistar had no real team training like sky and therefore only sky pay attention to these details.

This was lapped up by all those true believers of the bailsford doctrine -.that marginal gains like training as a team are more effective than a Ferrari programme.

Well, dowsett is no longer on the sky marginal gains programme, and he's just smashed the tt. So the fact that movistar don't so things properly like sky, doesn't seem to have made a difference for him
