Wouldn't want people thinking you were Sky obsessives![]()

the sceptic said:perhaps he could go bump it himself, but that might require him to have an opinion on something so probably not.![]()
TailWindHome said:Such a silly post.
the sceptic said:if Dawg cared and prepared for the worlds im sure he could finish in the first group sometimes.
the sceptic said:You complain about sky getting more attention than other dopers, so why arent you posting in any other threads?
thanks for proving my point.

Bernie's eyesore said:Froome should have been in great form for this the way he improved through the Vuelta. It was understandable him being useless last year when he was past his peak for the year and had nothing to prove. He should have been at the peak of his powers today, especially after expressing how he hoped to do a job for Swift. Instead he was dropped by a bunch of sprinters. The course obviously wasn't for him today but no reason why he couldn't have ridden well in a domestique role and then crushed everyone in Lombardy next week (if he was on his best form). Something doesn't smell right to me.
Parker said:I think people forget that GB only have 15 World Tour riders. They don't have a lot of choice of riders and Froome, despite being a lousy one day rider, isn't too proud to turn up and do a domestique's job (unlike Contador for example).
And with GB tending to do too much work to early, it's hardly surprising that he DNFs.
I've no idea what he did. I only watched the last two laps.the sceptic said:Did Froome do anything today? All I saw was him getting dropped by sprinters.
Greatest cycling talent of all time, but unable to finish a one day race.![]()
Parker said:Lots of good riders finished but won't be adding their results to their palmares on their websites. If you've won the Tour de France then finishing the worlds is no big deal.
fmk_RoI said:But *not* finishing the Worlds - ever - that's something special and worth recording. Can anyone think of a rider with a career record to match that?

Contador at the Worlds
2007: Couldn't be bothered
2008: DNF
2009: Couldn't be bothered
2010: Couldn't be bothered
2011: Banned
2012: 38th
2013: DNF
2014: Couldn't be bothered
That's his direct contemporary. One 38th after an almost missed season. At least Froome assisted one World Champion.
But forget that. Let's hang the bunting out for that 38th place. If GB had 50+ pros like Spain does would they ask Froome to ride? Probably not.
I realise finishing may be a big deal for the Irish. But I don't imagine GB give a toss these days.
Here's the more interesting thing Fergal. You make a living out of writing about cycling. I don't. But I can see the fairly obvious reason for this - a rider just helping out. I do worry when cycling journos seem to know less than me.
So what to make of cycling scribes? Are they actually fairly dumb people willing to work for minimum pay or are they just wanting to spin a contentious angle. Which is it Fergal?

what's your point? that froome's WC record looks alot like, but doesn't quite match, that of another doper?Parker said:A rider to match. Certainly.
