Welsh cyclist Owain Doull says it is "outrageous" current Team Sky riders have been drawn into the controversy over a "mystery package" delivered to ex-rider Sir Bradley Wiggins.
"It doesn't really affect us at all, especially me, as someone's only joined the team this year. It's stuff that happened five years ago.

"For me and a lot of the guys it has no real impact at all. Everyone's cracking on as normal."

Absolutely splendid old bean - keep on cracking on! SDB might be hiding in the bus, but he says your doing a jolly top rate spiffing job - what what! :D

like a shop assistant in a Ratner's store circa 1992 blithley wondering what all the fuss was about....

I am gonna quote the line. And I have no touchstone to Ratner's. I needed to google it.

If Wiggins goes full Landis he can kiss his media career goodbye and his so called motivational speaker talks will be over.

I very much doubt Wiggins is that stupid, he aint the sharpest but he aint the bluntest.

Wiggins appears to like the 'good life' and that costs money.

No i think he is pulling people's legs or maybe he is warning Brailsford, but if he throws people under the bus he will be part of the crash!

grey mail.

it is the warning shot across the bows. 'pay me some respect, dont dare hang me out to dry'.

or graymail i picked the mauve cos susan's forum code never had a grey colour, go figga, or figure...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graymail

This with bells and whistles on. He's reminding some folks that he still holds some cards. He's doesn't need to throw himself under a bus to do it either. He can speak out about the real culture at BC - back up Varnish etc. He could reveal what really went on between him and Froome and his wife and The Cound. He's already saying this stuff which discredits them a little and makes them sellers of snake oil / charlatans.

"I think it’s a load of rubbish, if I'm honest. I do," he said, according toEurosport. "A lot of people made a lot of money out of it and David Brailsford used it constantly as his calling card. But I always thought it was a load of rubbish.

"It's a bit like the whole chimp thing," Wiggins added in reference to 'The Chimp Paradox', a book by psychiatrist Steve Peters who formerly worked with Team Sky.

He doesn't have to say anything too bad and it would make the situation a little bit worse fo SDB et al. because his revelations would make it front page news.

I like to check in with this piece by Lionel Birnie from time to time as different things become apparent as events unfold http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/all-aboard-the-magic-bus-3974

Am struck by a) the lack of mention of Wiggins being ill and b) Uran being granted an immediate TUE (from tame UCI doc Zorzoli, natch) for asthma problems for a "steroid that can mimic a corticosteroid in the urine and can be misused"

A neat cover story for triamcinolone, n'est-ce-pas?

From that story is fairly clear that Uran got Wiggins's triamcinolone for his TUE, thus they had to ship out another order from Manchester. Wiggins needed his hit before the training camp and wasn't to be tested after his post race doping control.

The missing laptop was pure BS from Sky as according to Freeman there were no records period in 2011.

Be interesting to see what Birnie has to say about Wiggins 'illness' and why Sky just didn't claim there was a huge mix up and the package was for Uran all along ;)

Sky have shown themselves to be incredibly stupid but I dont think Sky are stupid enough to pick a fight with Vaughters,

Doesn't he say there were no records re. stock control for drugs etc. There were, surely, medical records in 2011? Hence the disappearing laptop.

But according to Cope's expenses, he went up to Manchester on 8th, so he knew about 'delivery boy duties' before Uran's illness...

There is not really much money in Dame Wiggie spilling the beans. A book? A movie? What else is there? The tabloids? They pay a pittance nowadays for exclusives. Wiggie will be lucky to get a quarter of a mill advance from a publisher. A movie, doubtful after the Armstrong movies bombed. So that leaves tabloid hell. Nah he can drag out the SBW 5 times olympic winner and TdF winner for a few years then open a bike shop or record shop in Kilburn.

It might happen to settle a score or because others get dragged down with Wiggie and Wiggie needs to save his own skin.

It might also come out in a drunken rant that he doesn't realise is being secretly recorded.

I just hope they lay off of the motors in this year's Tour. The stage neutralization also left a sour taste in the mouth.
Chris Froome is still an elite rider and has a great chance to win, but I'd like to see him pedal instead of cruising through stages with a motorbike.

Matthew Syed trying to defend Sky again.

"How could a team FABLED for their attention to detail...."

Some definitions of FABLED;

- a story not founded on fact:

- a story about supernatural or extraordinary persons or incidents; legend:

- legends or myths collectively:

- an untruth; falsehood:

Yes, sky and their FABLED methods, when in truth it came down to having key players in power on their team. UCI Presidents McQuaid and now Cookson. ASO backing. Doping doctors and dope.

Sky are probably quite happy the focus is on the jiffy bag rather than the real heavy PEDs they are using or even the motors...... :D

The only way Wigans is confessing is if he's already thrown under the bus with nowhere to go.

So this,
"Eventually I will get my say and there is a lot to say. It's going to shock a few people."

also: 'Marginal gains was a load of rubbish' says former Team Sky leader."

was trying to stop him being thrown under the bus?

the doc has said http://data.parliament.uk/writtenev...combatting-doping-in-sport/written/49495.html
Question, Shane Sutton said that after you treated Bradley Wiggins after the race that you texted him to tell him that you had ‘sorted’ Bradley, what was the problem you had ‘sorted’?

Answer, As you will appreciate from my previous correspondence – I am unable to talk about any patient issues without the express consent of the patient, and this has not been given as far as I understand."

So SBW does not want the doc to talk ...but "Eventually I will get my say". Geezus!

Interestingly Marina Hyde, a proper sports journalist also uses the word fable. She obviously understands the English language.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2017/mar/29/team-sky-british-cycling-jiffy-bag

Each new revelation of slapdashery is harder and harder to square with the old fables about painting the floors white and getting a surgeon to speak to riders about how to wash their hands and so on.

Definitely this - he still has a pretty strong legacy with his development team and I guess is still a hero to a lot of the British public. He's still got way too much to lose at this point.

However, it looks like there is a lot of tension now with Brailsford - to the point where Wiggins is rubbishing marginal gains and diminshing the role Brailsford played in his success. If Brailsford cracks - which imo is also unlikely, but not impossible if the tension ramps up a bit more and he ends up taking all the flak - then Wiggins might be left in a position where he does a damage limitation reveal. Kind of like a more refined version of what Lance tried: something like 'I bent the rules at the TdF (and everyone was doing it), but the Olympic medals were 100% clean'

Of course. But I think that would be his final play if it came down to it. Especially if he can heap all the blame onto Sky and say that things were different before he joined them - look at my record in GTs before etc...

People who follow these things wouldn't believe it obviously, but the general public might buy it. That he was the victim of Sky's need to win the Tour rather than an active protaganist. He could certainly make it looks a less clear cut situation than Armstrong - who had backed himself into such a corner that he had no credibility at all.
