If one day Grischa says "Show the world who's the strongest" the race is over. It's obviously an encoded message to You Know Who to push 7 w/kg.

I've said this before, but I don't think winning 3 GTs in a year matters much in the sponsor search. If they win the Vuelta you won't suddenly have a potential multi million euro sponsor thinking: oh wait a minute, this is actually a pretty good team. If nobody's interested by now, they won't be interested by next month either. With regards to budget - FDJ have 20 million Euros

Did not understand why Jumbo planned to have Vingegaard doing the Vuelta (this must have been planned in the Spring) then I wondered if it has anything to do with getting a big sponsor - "look! We win every race we enter!" 3 GT's in one year is a good selling point.
Good point but having your jersey at the front and top step of the podium of every GT should have a lot of appeal to international sponsors.I've said this before, but I don't think winning 3 GTs in a year matters much in the sponsor search. I don't think their results are the problem, it's who gets these results. They're somewhere in the middle between a Dutch team and an international team. For a Dutch domestic sponsor the international stars aren't that interesting, and for an international sponsor the Dutch department doesn't add anything.
I doubt Evenepoel and Van der Poel are more well-known than Vingegaard. The Tour simply reaches much further than anything else.Good point but having your jersey at the front and top step of the podium of every GT should have a lot of appeal to international sponsors.
There are probably only 5 international cycling stars atm anyway, maybe just 3 actually (MvdP, remco and Pogacar). The rest, even Vingegaard, are still not remotely known outside of the sport.
I don't mean "international stars" in the sense that they'll get invited to the Met Gala, but international stars in a cycling context. I think you overrate Remco's fame a little though, my grandma has no idea who that is. She knows Pogacar, because she watches the Tour (like a lot of casual fans, I assume, outside of Belgium).Good point but having your jersey at the front and top step of the podium of every GT should have a lot of appeal to international sponsors.

Good points, but I think if I was a sponsor, I'd want my brand on the top podium and crossing the finishing line first as often as possible. (winning = more TV time) As most non-pro-cycling people really only know the Tour de France, (and it gets the biggest coverage) it's the first question a sponsor would ask, "can you win the Tour?" Back in the Spring, it was a coin toss between Pogacar & Vingegaard. Next year? Mmm ... same again, a coin toss, but second at the Tour is not to be sniffed at.I've said this before, but I don't think winning 3 GTs in a year matters much in the sponsor search. Crazy strong teams by Ineos & Jumbo at ToB - I can understand Ineos wanting to win something, home soil sort of etc, but Jumbo are just trolling.Kruijswijk will return to racing in Tour of Britain

I don't know why Van Aert isn't doing the Canadian classics. UAE have taken a pretty commanding lead in the UCI ranking, a race I thought Plugge and friends would be pretty interested in winning. But now it seems like they're giving up.Kruijswijk will return to racing in Tour of Britain

Different companies, different objectives. Lidl are an international brand, Jumbo are a local Dutch brand. So Lidl is prepared to invest heavily into pro peloton and Jumbo claims it's not beneficial to them in doing so. Likely some online team meetings with the Jumbo upper management will be needed. To get the facts straight.
The thing is, Jumbo Visma are better than US Postal, and better than Sky. And, most of all, Jumbo and their star riders are absolutely likeable.
Today‘s Vuelta Tourmalet stage will never be forgotten. On such terrain, in a GT, this was unique.
Jumbo let Remco and most of their opponents look like amateurs…
I think Roglic, Vingegaard and Kuss are really good colleagues, or even friends. I think at the 2024 TdF, Jonas, Sepp and Primoz will want to do to their rivals what they did today.
Now it‘s about bringing Sepp in Nr 1 to Madrid. Next year, it will all be about making Primoz TdF champion.
I imagine a 2024 TdF GC final podium of
1 Roglic,
2 Vingegaard,
3 Kuss…
Anything can happen in a grand tour, and Rog needs to be at the TdF for it to happen. Then again I would be surprised if Roglic could suddenly hang with current level Pogi and Jonas. Example- Jonas beat Adam with 11minuts in the tour, and this was with several stages in a slow stalemate with Pog. Could have been quite a bit more I would think. Adam is a rider Primoz can beat, but they are racing the same race, Adam is not just background noise with him.The thing is, Jumbo Visma are better than US Postal, and better than Sky. That's a sentiment that was especially prevalent during the Tour. Somehow Pogacar was seen as the underdog fighting against big bad Jumbo. But it's the other way around... Jumbo just use their resources better.I am sure the JV team are all lovely and hard-working people, deserving of their wins etc; I still find their dominance disheartening. (Not boring, because I actually think their racing is interesting.)
And thus, I find myself in the very bizarre situation of thinking of teams financed by oil money as underdogs.
I cannot deny that I find Pogačar's style of racing particularly exciting and appealing. That's a sentiment that was especially prevalent during the Tour. Somehow Pogacar was seen as the underdog fighting against big bad Jumbo. But it's the other way around... Jumbo just use their resources better.
Having one team take up the 3 podium positions in a GT probably isn't "good for cycling", but if you look at how they got there, I don't think it's made the racing boring, nor have they been so dominant that you think "how is this even possible". Only Kuss has a level he maybe hasn't had before... but even that's up for debate. And they still need to stay healthy, which seems to be difficult enough.
nonsense.. There is the Tour and then everything else in cycling is secondary dont get much focus... the same with Giro and Vuelta.. both of these also get shockingly little headlights in the mainstream media.Good point but having your jersey at the front and top step of the podium of every GT should have a lot of appeal to international sponsors.

This is a scary team and you forgot Almeida.UAE needs to bring out all the guns at the next tour
Pog, Ayuso, Yates, Vine, Soler,Maijka, Bjerg, McNulty
Or they need another strong rouleur if McNulty isn't the guy for that role
For what? In the end it will be the same....just pogacar and vingegaard. It's more a question of pogacar have better legs than Vingegaard.UAE needs to bring out all the guns at the next tour

Yes and get annihilated by Pogi or Remco which will bring them down a level. They will send all the toppers to Lombardia to do the final twist of the knife this season
Famous last words..Yes and get annihilated by Pogi or Remco which will bring them down a level.
