An era is over. In my opinion this was a very fruitful cooperation. In between Primož Roglič and Jumbo Visma. They achieved so much together, grow organically from nothing and reached the very top. Now, when parting ways, it will be interesting to see, on where that takes them.

New team to likely stay on top or close to it. Still, sheer number of wins by Rogla, that will leave a big gap. Maybe if Remco really signs for this new team, for that to reduce the impact, of Rogla leaving, but somehow i feel that Rogla will prove to be irreplaceable. And it will show.

Rogla, won pretty much every stage race there is to win with JV. Still in his prime. No way could he settle for not going for the Tour title, as leader. Will he succeed or not, with his new team. Likely indeed he will do just that.

All in all there will always be fond memories, about this era of cycling. Where together, Rogla and JV, were dominating.

This season everyone seems to consider Jumbo the strongest team around after they won the three Grand Tours but I am pretty convinced that next year, they will take a bit of a hit.

Without Roglič, they won't be able to win all three Grand Tours in the same season and their chances in some shorter stage races and even hilly classics like Lombardia, Liège and Flèche will become smaller as Roglič was their leader for these races.

Sure, if Vingegård wins his third Tour which is the most likely outcome, their season will always be at least a partly success but the cobbled classics team will need to step up because, despite their strength in these races, in the last three seasons they've won 0 monuments (including all 5), compared to Pogačar's 5 or MVDP's 3, so Van Aert and to a lesser extent Laporte, Van Baarle and Kooij will be under pressure because there won't be a GT triplet to mask their lack of results there.

WVA seems to have had his peak. And some say used it to help the team. Looking at the other monsters competing for the monuments they need some luck to bag one next year. That said, it seems evident by now that the core of the GT team is so strong that maybe he will be allowed to super peak for the spring monuments and "just" be a handy helper for the GT's. But who knows what Jumbo thinks. They might be adamant to complete the trifecto next year as well. Cost what it may.

This makes no difference, of course. Van Aert was under pressure this year as well. Since the cobbled classics are raced before the first GT even starts, nobody was speaking about the 3 GTs they could possibly win. And they are very aware that they haven't won any Monuments for a while, it's actually what you hear them discussing maybe even more than actually winning the 3 GTs. The fact that you bring it up is probably also because they've been saying it themselves :)

Guys like Kelderman honestly have gotten their occasional shot at a stage win from a break, I generally think Jumbo manage to do that decently

Roglic leaves a big gap that the current roster cannot fill. They need probably two star riders to fill the gap. Ideally an up and coming star that can be apprentice to Jonas, like he was to Primoz. Who could they possibly sign to keep the team on the right track? Almost impossible for 2024 to be as successful as 2024 but they should show that they are building the team for the post Primoz era.
Alternatively, Is now the time for GC Wout? Does the 2024 Giro suit him? Can he do a Tom Dumoulin?

Depends on if the coach that left was the one who thought he could or could not do it. The route in a vacuum looks okay for a GT attempt. But I'm so not a believer in Van Aert going for GCs.

Roglic is simply a quality of rider you don't replace normally.

Just been looking at that Giro route, too much tt for Kuss to go as leader, Roglic no longer there so how do they win?

Luckily they have a ready made legend of the Giro in the team, a man not getting any younger who is no doubt giving thought to one last throw of the dice.

Wout is one guy and you can't race him everywhere. He'll do fine if he makes the choices that net wins. If he gets caught up in doing 3 week support rides that will not help the form for the Olympics and what he may want to achieve. Thing is...Primoz brought some aggressive chemistry that allowed the other big guys to choose their moments to some degree. Who fills that void and what events will they be effective?
My guess is they'll focus on the Tour and a few early classics like PR. Sort out the rest from there.

Jumbo-Visma will be fine. They've already signed the next GT superstar as a replacement. Johannes Staune-Mittet. He's even got a nordic skiing background just like Roglič so it's already written in the stars.

Van Aert can't ride for GC in a grand tour. And certainly not if he has targeted the cobbled classics just a month earlier.

He's way too heavy to be a GT contender. Just because he's been there for Vingegaard and Roglic in some tactical situations doesn't mean he can follow the real climbers up a mountain. Because he can't. He'll lose minutes on every uphill finish. The comparison has been made to Dumoulin but Dumoulin was never very heavy to begin with, just above 70 kgs. He actually didn't have to lose that much weight to become a climber and still keep his power on the flat.

He would need to drop weight to contend, which would probably hurt his chances on the cobbles.

But this coming Giro could be doable for GC Wout. On paper the Livigno stage might be too much for him, but there's a lot of flat TT. If Visma can gift a GC to Kuss, then surely Wout deserves one.

Given his mediocre season, it makes sense to change things, though I am not sure doing Giro + Vuelta is the best option. In the Giro, Kooij will most likely be there, so I don't think that Van Aert would have a lot of stage hunting chances (maybe the goal is just to win the first stage just like Van der Poel in 2022) and GC seems out of cards, especially a month after the classics and with the Olympics and World Championships laying ahead.

I find it odd that the article mentions peaking for the Vuelta but not for the Worlds but I must say doing the Vuelta in a similar way Van der Poel did this year's Tour would give Van Aert a really good base for Zürich.

Well, they signed Jorgenson. Even if he steps up a level next year, Jorgenson is not going to replace Roglic in GTs, but for one-week and one-day races he could recover a few of those wins.

I am curious what they do with Kuss. I'd say at this point the only guarantee is that he supports Vingegaard at the Tour, beyond that I just don't know. Maybe they can deploy him effectively for the GC aspirations in one-week races? Aim for a Giro stage?
