Well...not a bad performance by JV skeletors and by their directors!

Straight from the horse's mouth:

Vingo: I’m 100% sure my two colleagues here are not taking anything - as well as myself
Sepp: Cheating or doping is out of the question

You only dope if you are afraid of losing. Since Jumbo win so easily, there's no need for them to dope. QED

I wonder when Jumbo will decide to make WVA a GT winner. Wiggo did it, Dumo saw Wiggo and he did it. Jumbo saw Sky and they know they can do it
I don't know if Wout wants to be a GT leader. He still likes CX. loves the spring classics. I think he will continue to do what he is. But I agree Jumbo will pressure him. And I'm sure they could transform him. They have a pretty successful history of doing just that.

There seems to be too much tension in Jumbo for it to be pappered over with money. I think Roglic could accept Vingegaard as being a better GT rider, but the Kuss debacle may have been the last straw.
A team this dominant never has lasted long because of internal struggles. Maybe the Hessman case will open up the door to things Jumbo don't want known. It could be a long Winter for Plugge.

Kuss said "never again" so... I really don't think people should worry too much about Kuss. He doesn't like the pressure.

Wout though has said on Thomas podcast that he would like to go for GT GC in the future.

I don't think Rogla can accep Jonas as a better GC rider than himself. I doubt it's in Rogla dna to do such things. Just my speculation though.

Mathieu Heijboer said in an interview their performance coaches are indisagreement as to whether Van Aert can do GC. IMO it's a completely pointless exercise.
And that's yet an indication of different opinions of their own riders within their management. 🤐😅

I'd like to see him in a GT where he's not chained but I assume it wouldn't be fun for the rest of the race. It'd be like Remco in vuelta. Yo-yo time, multiple stages and polka dot. 😅

Jumbo "shaping the battlefield" or "getting ahead of the narrative" as I believe it's said in certain circles.
https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling...after-positive-doping-test-of-michel-hessmann
(Quote)“Wednesday, August 16, 2023 was a black day for our team,” reflects Plugge to RIDE Magazine. “For the first time in ten years, we received the message that a rider from our team, Michel Hessmann , had taken a positive doping test. We have to look in the mirror ourselves, are we doing everything right?

“Everyone involved in and with our organization must be aware of everything. Germany has a doping law, so the public prosecutor's office is automatically involved," says Plugge. "Criminal law has the presumption of innocence, while disciplinary law reasons the other way around. It is up to the athlete to prove that he has done nothing wrong. If the test is carried out properly, there are two flavors, either it is conscious, or it is contamination from a supplement or other medicine."

“It is therefore mandatory within our team to only use supplements and medicines that have been batch checked for doping substances, to minimize the risk of contamination. Many products contain remnants of other products,” he continues. “In short, an athlete cannot simply take a supplement, drug or energy drink without knowing whether it has been tested beforehand. There can be a doping control 365 days a year, the athlete must be sharp every day. That is part of cycling policy. Riders are checked between thirty and 150 times per year. That is good and should remain that way. We stand for fair sport in which talents cross swords on equal grounds.” (End quote)

So Jumbo will give it the old "tainted supplement" excuse? Sounds like it to me.

Investigative journalist Edmund Willison responded to the Dane’s comments in a tweet, with the context of Hessmann’s positive leaving a blemish on Jumbo-Visma’s reputation as a clean team.
“Jonas Vingegaard says he is sure that neither he nor his 2 teammates Sepp Kuss and Primož Roglič are doping. Well, he can’t say that about another Jumbo Visma teammate, Michel Hessmann, who was busted in June after riding for Roglič at the Giro,” said Willison.
No sh.t, Sherlock! I think it's worrying that this apparently is the state of "investigative journalism" in cycling.

If you think there's something suspicious going on, then investigate! Don't just state the obvious.

That's not even remotely related to jingoism?

Anyway, it might be a very obvious thing to say, certainly it's no investigative journalism scoop, but it's not like "I can vouch 100% for people other than myself" deserves any deeper analysis. Honestly it's kinda weird to have such a strong negative response to something that's such an entry-level callout

Which does bring us back to jingoism I guess
