I like how he mentions ten years like that's a long time to be clean. A long time to evade detection maybe, but a short time to be clean. Most people and organizations are clean for life or dirty for life. The incentives are the same now as they've always been, and human nature takes longer than a decade to change

That's not even remotely related to jingoism?

Anyway, it might be a very obvious thing to say, certainly it's no investigative journalism scoop, but it's not like "I can vouch 100% for people other than myself" deserves any deeper analysis. Honestly it's kinda weird to have such a strong negative response to something that's such an entry-level callout

Which does bring us back to jingoism I guess
It's an entry-level callout used by Cyclingnews to give added weight to possible doping accusations. Not the guy's fault of course, that's true. My negative response is based on the fact that this is not journalism, but it's being presented as such.

Of course you can turn that around and say I'm the jingoist for advocating proper journalism...

"AITA for advocating proper journalism?" but then you read it and welp

Wout and Kuss as co-leaders at the Giro (so that Kuss doesn't feel too much responsibility) would be good!
Problem with that is Wout having that short turnaround after Northern Classics season where he'd want to peak for Flanders, Roubaix et al.

But then, since Jumbo don't seem to have the same problem anybody else does with riders ever getting tired and they can just ride GT after GT without any drop in performance, maybe it's not so much of a problem.

“Wout not tired. Wout not weak. Wout strong. Wout need no rest.”
WVA 2024 probably

His tweet wasn't necessarily nationalistic or whatever, but there is no depth to it. That's what I mean. It's similar to these "journalists" asking the Tour winner at the post-race press conference if he uses doping. Wow, what a gotcha question! Now you've done your job as a journalist.
Considering Jumbo's dominance and mantra, like former Sky, of being more professional, more scrupulous, more advanced in methodology, bla, bla, bla, he's just fired at the target when it suddenly appeared. It's not jingoistic, but only responding to the opportunity that was too good/evident to ignore. I think everybody is thinking the same thing, regardless of nationality: another little fish got popped, but not the stars, nothing to see here, move on. Except he decided to advance a bit of devious mockery.

Well, good for him I guess. And good for this thread.

Absolutely not, I'd actually welcome it. Better than the "they ride fast, hence they must be doping" argument I read here a lot (basically the only argument).
A team rider literally just got caught doping. That seems to be another argument for why they are doping. But apparently mentioning that is also problematic.

p.s. it's ok to admit you didn't know what jingoism was before the word was used in this thread

That certainly seems to be an argument, although we still don't know any details of the case. I think the sceptics should be happy that it's a German, so the authorities get involved, personal belongings like his laptop and so on have been confiscated, and surely if there's some kind of doping program going on at Jumbo, we'll find out all about it! In the absence of proper journalism, it's the best we can hope for.

(of course if it turns out there isn't, you still won't believe it :))

all you gotta do is
1. Train
2. Eat your vitamins
3. Say your prayers

Obviously everyone else forgot at least one of those three things
