Teams & Riders Team Visma - Lease a Bike

Page 132 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
how does this work when 45yo wout wants to keep riding and the team are no longer interested?
There are few parallels between Israel Premier Tech and Team Jumbo-Lease a Bike, but this structure reminds me of the Froome disaster. Letting your counterparty decide when he wishes to stop being paid is rarely going to work out well -- even with a rider as quality as Wout.

Niklas Behrens to Visma. After this news I took a deeper look into the new classic squad of Visma.

The van Dijcke brothers and Tratnik are out of the squad. New additions of riders which are capable of the classics are Behrens, Zingle, Campenaerts and Brennan.

First thing that came to my mind when I thought about Visma and classics "they can´t have another horrible season like this with that many injuries and illness".
So a fit van Aert, Laporte and van Baarle is key and will make the squad so much better than this year. With this beeing said, Jorgenson showed his talent in the classics and that he can be a real contender for big results. On top mix it up with the rising classics talent Per Strand Hagenes and you will have a very, very good squad. Zingle can be an outside bet for smaller classic style races or a contender that already showed that he can get results and is a rider which other teams have to worry about.
In case of work horses, domestiques (or even outsiders for some classics) take Benoot, Affini, Campenaert or Lemmen.
And then you can still add two talented guys like Brennan and Behrens and let them learn and develope in smaller races or even in a race like dwaars door vlaanderen if it fits.

In case of the quality of a possible classic squad just two other teams have the possibility to cover this line up: UAE and Trek.
Alpecin does not have the quality across the board to be as good as the other three. They have two outstanding riders and a good team but not as good as Visma, UAE or Trek.

I´m really looking forward two the classic races. I want to see visma back at its best and a UAE and Trek team that also want to win a lot in the spring.

Teunissen likely to be the last man to join the team for next year, he can ride the classics too.

They can have the best team, they still will be destroyed by Pogi in RVV. Roubaix is another thing.
Yes thats very likely. But they do their best to get with the best possible squad to the startline and try to beat Pogi. Even WvA and MvdP need a perfect day do beat Pogi on a bad day. But you compete in sports to win and if you stop trying then you can stop doing professionel sports in my opinion.
And I still believe that you can beat Pogi and UAE with team tactics, when your team is on point fit, willing and capable of the best. Try to isloate him, attack him, send good riders in the break, be active, give him a lot of situations where he needs do decide and then yes hope that he has a bad day or that he is making a bad decision. But try and try it again and don´t be afraid of loosing. In my opinion its better for Visma to try to win the monument then come in a second or third. Try it even if you help an opponent like MvdP, just try it and i´m sure there is a chance of winning. If you wait until Pogi can make his move then you won´t succeed.

Don't forget UAE classics team is also pretty insane. Visma will never beat them on tactics, they need WVA to beat Pogacar on sheer power, at least in MSR and RVV. In MSR, WVA can definetely follow Pogacar but in RVV he will be dropped like a stone after a hard tempo produced by the likes of Politt, Bjerg, Wellens, Veermesh, Rui Oliveira/Laengen and Morgado. This team is stellar too.

Visma have not won a monument for four years, so they are due. I have my doubts about Jorgensen winning a monument, as he blows up in the last 50kms, as shown in Ronde and the World's
I reckon they have to wait at least until next edition of MSR .

idk about Jorgenson, he is still young and could still improve in the last 50 k.

But yeah Pogi, MVP and Remco are tough nuts to crack.
