Good question. I think now that people have a better understanding of how the game works we'll definitely see bigger scores. Something like 15000-17000.

Very hard to tell, but 15000 seems to be a good guess. I have just checked my preliminary 33, and if they all equals their best season my team would score 13410 points. And with 24 of my 33 riders 24 years or younger at the start of the season I really hope I have quite a few that will have their best season so far in 2012:D

You do know all riders start the year at zero points, right?

Don't understand the reasoning behind your statement, but maybe that's just me.

Yes but he must be very confident in his team if he doesnt think a single one of his 33 riders would be better replaced by someone 195 points better.

So how many points does everyone think that the winner will reach this season? I think we'll see the winner doing quite a bit better than last season. Perhaps something like 17000?

i'm conservatively aiming for 16500+ with my team... hope its enough to top 10!

It is indeed a good question. After a pre-selection of 100 cyclists, ended up choosing the top 33 that I like to see performing. For this option, I obviously had to ignore the best performers I enjoy most (Contador, Wiggins, EBH) for keeping the 7500 points limit. My main purpose in participating in this game is related to the curious of checking my favorite riders´ performance. It is obvious that I would like to play for the final victory but I want to see if I can do it with the riders that I enjoy in real life.

No problem. I was just mrely interested in your team.

I don't see 15000 being broken, in fact I highly doubt it. That is a huge turnover. 200% each rider.

I expect the winner between 13000 and 15000

This is getting so hard for me. All on my list who were "maybes" seem to be getting teams and stuff. I may have to drop Devolder :(

I have 2 zero pointers in my team atm...that's about it. :D

Still foot-tapping waiting for these teams to be finalised. When is the UCI announcement for PT teams?

Would anyone realistically choose 31 riders with 0 points and then Contador and Gilbert. Maybe replace Contador with Cancellara or Evans. Just a crazy thought that entered my head that might now tempt you all???

Chances are a majority of those 31 zero pointers will score very high. Many of those are riders that take part in races that give nothing to very little in points.

Well, in the best case scenario your two top riders would do 3000 points each (with 2000 being more realistic) so to get to a competitive score like say 14000 you would need to find 31 0-pointers that can do 258 points each. I doubt there is more than 2-3 0-pointers that can even get close to that.

Team submitted

To save myself from any more speculation I have now submitted my team.

1 rider with 1000+ points
6 riders between 400 and 999 points
8 riders between 100 and 399 points
15 (!!) riders between 1 and 99 points
3 riders with 0 points

Last two riders to get the axe was Farrar and Offredo.

Most popular team : Euskaltel ( 4 riders)
Most popular country : Belgium ( 5 riders)

26 of the 33 riders have not celebrated their 25th birthday at 01.01.2012

Total points if all equals their best season : 13504

Satisfaction with selection 9,5 of 10:rolleyes:

How are the rules regarding Kolobnev?

He is allowed to ride next year isn't he? But he was forced to stop riding after the TdF? Does his 2011 points count?

Crap I thought I was finished. Had 35 riders at 7496 points, but then I checked the rules again(Should do that before I make a list lol) and it said max 33 riders.
Doh!

I've kicked out Kolobnev because I think his 2011 points don't count, but it's bloody hard to kick more out and replace them with a better alternative :/

I have to admit I got a few

I know it was weird I went through my list doing a running total and bang 33 @ 74 and a bit and though done.

Looked at it once - lots of OZ folks which maybe a mistake though I will leave it and then last night went to check updates re teams etc and look at the stats and noticed lots of different countries but no Italy and Spain - it probably will be a big mistake but will go with my team unless 1 rider I am waiting on does not show up at a team.

Got lots of lowland types though 2nd biggest country speak Dutch ;)

9 riders from 0-100
16 riders from 100-300
4 riders from 300-500
3 riders from 500-1000
0 riders 1000+

I have four of one team. And a couple of threes.

Not much love for the Spanish it seems, admittedly two of my four are probably out of range for some.

I think it is important to keep diversity in the teams and especially the type of rider they are e.g. cobbles, hills, stage races, GTs, TT...

Would be interested to hear how the submitted teams would divide their race specialisations too.

In my provisional team there are:

5x time trialists
3x hilly classics guys
3x cobbled specialists
6x GT guys/allrounders
9x more or less pure climbers
1x sprinter
6x all-rounders without the GT potential

Anyone else have more than 18 nationalities in their team?

13 here, but that's because the first thing I did was filter the cranking on dutch riders. Picked the ones I thought that would score more points and then I scrolled the list from 1 till the end.
11 out of 33 riders are dutch.

Besides that I'm not going to specify anything more of my team. I'm sure there are some gurus that try to figure out someones team based on the number of nationalities/climbers/sprinters etc. :)

p.s. Can someone tell me if Kolobnev gets to use this years points or of 2010?
