I reckon the format is good because its dead easy to find dopers and youngsters on low points and to quadruple their points or whatever, but you also need to find higher ranking riders that can improve on top of that and thats not so easy.

My last draft squad came up with a points total of 6700 so I had to compromise and bring in riders with quite a lot of points to defend - but I'm not so certain they will improve.

So you (nearly) won clean, except for the rasmussen episode :)

Ya, though that was out of my hands since it happened during the year rather than before. The only previous doper I had was Kashechkin and he turned out to be a bad choice anyway so I didn't really benefit from him.

he should be a bargain this year, but i quite frankly I don't want him.

Well, you lose a spot that someone better could have taken. Someone who is more likely to have a good year.

meh there probably aren't a whole lot whom are a much better prospect at <30. Plus this is cycling, wouldn't be that surprising if he started delivering at astana.

I have picked my 33 riders:

20 Point droppers
11 Talents
2 personal wishes

Those 2 personal wishes will probably ensure that I won't win, but I really want them on my team. Since they are no bargains anymore, I think it won't harm to reveal these rising stars:
Simone Ponzi
Thibaut Pinot

I too thought of Pinot and he's still on my shortlist as I think FDJ will reach the World Tour.

see I cant help but wonder if he'd score better without WT.

I think he is gonna b one hell of a rider, but I don't think he is gonna be winning WT stage races yet. In fact I believe if he raced more european scene he'd score even better. But then again he'll probably do a similar season, stick to the french WT races. A lot will depend if he races a GT or not I suppose.

Just thought about Devolder. Who wants to take that risk? :p

This was his worst season point wise since 2003.

(I'm not entering the game, so I'm sort of neutralish)

Pinot is like Sagan last year. Great talent but expensive, only that I think he won't do as well as Sagan did this season.

I didnt think Sagan would do this well last season though, so who knows.

I did expect Sagan to have a season like that. I was surprised so few picked him last year while everyone picked Ricco. But looking at CQ ranking he didn't do much better point wise this year compared to last year. Flawed system right there.

And he did much better than his first season. Just compare the amount of wins. Here it's not even double the points.

And even better: look at the team ranking. Vacansoleil better than Lotto? In what world?

Gilbert did much better than last season, just compare the amount of wins. But he didn't even score double the points.

errr. maybe because the team had one rider who performed and a couple others who managed a good result here or there. WHereas Vaconsoliel whole team took results collectively throughout the year. Lotto without gilbert were more or less peanuts this year.

He nearly did though :p

But really, I'd say Sagan's season this year was 3 times better than his first season and at first I though you'd see it in the points, but you don't really. I just remember seeing him at Paris-Nice and Romandie last season while this year he was pretty consistent over the season except Paris-Nice maybe.

I think you under estimate his 2010 season.

2nd GP Montreal (WT race)
4th Romanga
2nd Veneto
7th GP Quest
Paris-Nice, Romandie, TOC rides

True he had a betetr season this year, but the CQ rankings probably correctly identify how much better.

From my list of 33 riders, whom I am almost certainly going to submit I forsee a score of 12749 by the end of next season.

btw I renewed the contract of a grand total of 6 riders.
4 of which are coming of an already improved season.
